Just a friendly reminder, since there's a thread with my v models in it, with downloads, as well as a mention in the release thread.
Curious how you've not mentioned all the other v models for the Aliens themed player models.
Edit - you might even find it if you spell Aliens properly, there's a hint. BTW I'll be watching for stealing, and yes it'll be very easy to know if you have <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Not really sure about the over my dead body reference, but if you made claws I'm down for it!

I have made my own skins for the rest of the models.

1) Actually, "Al|en" is the proper way to denote the alien-movie franchise alien from the generic meaning. Why don't you fix your attitude problem?
2) As I don't plan on taking credit (eg, the HAKUJIN Pack or something stupid) and most of the things I have found have no credits .TXT listed, I'm not going to put any credits: even for my own skinwork / soundwork. If someone wants to take credit for something they will be free to do so in the release thread.
3) I'm not some 12-year old who thinks that I'm going to get hired by Valve just for recoloring a weapon. The pack will merely be a compilation of the models / sounds i use. That's it.

As in, I'm not telling you where it is, precisely because the thread is easy to find and secondly you don't seem too worried about asking permission to use other people's models. And as point of fact, I'm not the only one you'd need to contact.

They'll look pretty stupid and out of place compared to all the Alien models. The behemoth and lerk spring to mind, since the Alien Lerk model doesn't hive the side spike/spore shooters. Your reskin can't fix that.

Actually, its spelt Alien, and thats so that people can use the search function.

No, thats not how things work. Many modellers request that they are ASKED before their work is distributed - you would violate this and could in fact find yourself in a bad position, since you legally agree to distribute files ACCORDING TO THE TERMS IN THE README, and EVERY Aliens themed file has a readme included - this I know for a FACT because I've downloaded them all and included a readme in the pack I released. If someone DESERVES credit then you have to pull your finger out and chase them down, otherwise you can't release. Well, thats not strictly true - you can still release, but people will just know you as a thief.

I don't give a flying monkeys who you are or who you think you are, I am TELLING YOU that you need to credit people and get their permission BEFORE releasing their work. Crediting alone, without permission, just doesn't cut it. Theft is wrong.
hey...you guys smell that?
...smells like....like....someone just got owned

5ive: How old are you?
Necrosis: Obviously feelings run high regarding what is essentially a difference of philosophy we have here. Models released are essentially GPL. Freeware. For public benefit. The purpose? To support the community (and probably learn some modelling / skinning / etc skills). Releasing something that is already public domain is not theft. Packaging it and CALLING IT MY OWN would be theft. But simply packaging it, saying, "this is the best of the best and what I personally use," and releasing it is in no way theft. Yes, I know that WolfKahler, Daphisto, and yourself are responsible for most of the work done, but there are like 20 other people who have modded skins / tweaked things who I'm sure aren't credited. You would say, "Therefore, it is unreleasable." I would say, "The artists want their work to get out anyways, so realse what you can and don't take personal credit." We have different mindsets.
But since the pack has hit 26MB, it is too large to release anyways. So, that kinda ends the topic, huh?

<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
No, models are released subject to the information in the readme, and many modellers request that they are consulted before any redistribution or altering of their work can take place. IF YOU DOWNLOAD THAT MODEL, YOU ARE LEGALLY BOUND TO OBEY THAT INFORMATION. Pleading ignorance is no defence as most if not all NS modelling sites include a readme of some format. Secondly, GPL is a very large body of text which must be directly quoted or referred to - please don't attempt to create poor excuses from knowledge you barely understand.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
IF it is truly public domain. And the sad fact for you is that a lot of models aren't "public domain". Thats like saying copying a videogame and passing it around isnt theft because its in the "public domain", and if anyone harasses you, you'll just say "omfgzor dood liek someone just gave it 2 me w/o any manual or license"............. neither of which stand up in a court of law. You download a file, you get the readme - you ignore the readme, and thats your hard luck.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

If it runs counter to the requirements SPECIFIED IN THE README, then YES it is in fact THEFT. Secondly, it is considered a sign of good character to ASK the author if you may distribute their work.
In addition:
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
I'm not going to put any credits
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
So in essence you plan to steal some people's work and release it in an uncredited format. Do you think most modellers or skinners would agree with that?
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->

<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
No, I would say contact the websites you found these skins from, and post them up in the forum in case another poster could provide the correct credits. This involves moderate work, something thats harder and more honest than slapping a zip file together with no credits and shoving it up on a website somewhere. Or keeping it on your hard drive because its "too big".

So you grab everyone's stuff, hunt out some moderately hard to get files under the auspices of "I'm planning to release" then at the very end, you pull the release. Amateurish, at best.
Hakujin - get the stuff necrosis used... here's the site he got his stuff from: <a href='http://members.rogers.com/necron1/AVP/' target='_blank'>http://members.rogers.com/necron1/AVP/</a>
that way he can't call you a lamer for making YOUR OWN V models... or get mad at you for hacking the two ones daphisto did.
necrosis - you may have flawlessly animated the two of daphisto's products, but you did not create them, take a step back and don't
immediatly jump into fights over something you animated.
