Well, if you live in the UK I may be able to recommend some class old titles.

<a href='http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=RM0303' target='_blank'>Sam And Max and Day of the Tentacle</a>

    <a href='http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?ProductCode=RM00852' target='_blank'>The Dig</a>

    <a href='http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?ProductCode=RM4017' target='_blank'>Grim Fandango</a>

    <a href='http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?ProductCode=RM6046' target='_blank'>Monkey Island 3</a>

    <a href='http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?ProductCode=RM0534' target='_blank'>Escape From Monkey Island</a>

    <a href='http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?ProductCode=RM5016' target='_blank'>Startopia</a>

    Good games?

    Settlers 2
    Civilisation 2
Diablo 1 (!Probably one of the best atmospheric games)

Damn, you guys all beat me too it, you already listed most of the good ones.

Has anyone mentioned C&C yet? I did read the entire post but I can't remember every single game mentioned...

So anyway pretty much any C&C game except tiberian sun. Red alert 2 and especially the expansion pack are a bit "silly", but still very much worth playing.

*Rumages through game collection for ideas*

    Uh.... Theme hospital!

Starlancer! Ooh, ooh, get Starlancer! That game rox0red my box0rs.

    Deus ex, nope, been mentioned....

Half-life, well I would pretty much assume you have that...

Baulders Gate? You could probably get BG1 and 2 and the expansion packs for both for about £20, which is about 10 million hours of gameplay. I'm still kicking myself for giving up on BG2, my friend reliably informs me I only had one more boss to fight and then I was done! What's more I deleted my save.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Midtown madness, well that's not even mine and it sucks...

Um... Icewind dale 2? Has a slightly slower boredom curve than the BG series, but I still haven't completed it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

C&C generals? I don't know how cheap that is by now...

Well that's about it for my own game collection, the one's I have on hand. Hope this helped.

*edit* 1001 posts? OMG! Where HAS the time gone? *edit*

    Decent: Freespace

If you like space shooter movies, this game is pretty cool. I think it is 10 bucks or less.

    Also check out <a href='http://www.freeoldgames.com' target='_blank'>Free old games.com</a>. It's a cool site.

I can't believe no one mentioned No One Lives Forever!
That game has got to be one of my favourites ever, it's actually a huge game, still has decent graphics, the plot of the game is just brilliant and it's hilarious all the way through.
For anyone who doesn't know about it, it's about Kate Archer, a spy back in the 60's against an evil organisation, H.A.R.M., it's really funny.
I think you can buy this gem for like 15 dollars now.

    OMG COMMANDER KEEN!

I played the demo version of that on this CD I had full of shareware games. I also remeber Whacky Wheels, Major Stryker, and Revenge of the Mutant Space bats of doom (if only for the silly title for the last one <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->) from the same year.

I must have been about 10 then, ahhh them were the days of my old 486....

Lets see... How about i run over every awsome game that comes to mind starting.......... Now!

Deus Ex (should be down there)
    Rainbow Six (the first one)
    Duke Nukem 3D
Thief (maybe 2 also, that is pretty old)
vanilla Half Life (SINGLE PLAYER, it surprises me how many have never played it... also if you have steam opposing forces Singleplayer is FREE)
Mechwarrior (any below 15 bucks, there are lots of them)
Xcom Xcom Xcom Xcom Xcom!!!! Xcom: UFO Defense, buy it, play it, love it, feel complete
    Fallout
Aliens VS Predator 1 + 2 (I play it with Rock blaring in my headphones as i mash the alien swarm)
Jedi Knight I and II (II Should be low at least)
Quake I and II (surely already stated by now)
Doom and all it's expansions (I liked Doom II myself)
Blood (never played em, heard they were good though)
Tomb Raider (the first one is godly, why did they keep making them?)

I am sure the rest of the NS community will make up for my lazyness ^_^

JK one seconded, that was an awesome game.

Here is a game many of you may not have heard of. LotR. No nublings, not Lord of the Rings:

Lords of the Realm 2 specifically. Its like 22 bucks australian straight from sierra (included LotR one and the LotR 2 expansion), so it should be roughly 15 bucks american.

Awesome medieval RTS/civilisation combo - castle seiging has to be seen to be believed. There is nothing like digging the moat and setting up a seige tower or battering down the main door then rushing the enemy flag. Really awesome game, dirt cheap.
