but be glad they hadn't mastered this...
Put aside whatever dislikes you have for Gamespy for a moment, and read this. For once GSI isn't trying to advertise a particular game with its humour articles -- but this is so true even for non-WWII-based ones...

    Hahaha, excellent.

Reminds me of the Penny Arcade with "Ja, mein leapen!" in it.

    Ja, mein leapen!

(I could have sworn Russians used Motherland and Germans used Fatherland....sortof irrelevant though.

GSI hasn't done this too often: they decided to continue the story with the Russian side of the epic

Nah. They follow up the good ones. They get some nice continuity going, sometimes. Some characters keep popping up, particularly in [festival] specials.

Doesn't this fall under "laughing at other cultures"?

On the contrary, we're laughing at how ridiculous it can be to join a game of Hidden Call of Dangerous Honor Duty in Enemy Territory: 1942 and see half the population airborne at any given time.

But youd on't go here and say something like "Hohoho, look at funny thing: There was a german man doing this and that and he did things we think that are funny but if someone looks at the history a bit closer he will find this thing to be disgusting".
    Also, the

QUOTE

but be glad they hadn't mastered this...

sounds kinda sarcastic, I feel like being laughed at

Well... jumping around like crazy, and bunnyhopping, are fairly common in first person shooters. World War Two is a fairly common theme in first person shooters. So in the tradition of applying games to reality, which the Daily Victim often uses, what if in World War Two soldiers actually could bunnyhop?

The joke would have been just as funny no matter what the nationality of the soldier bunnyhopping. It's pretty hillarious in the Russian side of the story, too.

    omg,

A while back when the issues with Liberia were still hot there was a news footage video on MSNBC that documented some of the fighting between the government army and the rebels.

There was this 7 second clip in the middle of one of the vids where this guy with an AK-47 was jumping/hopping around madly fireing his weapon in the middle of a road shooting at some off camera forces on the other side of the bridge. He wasnt aiming at all just hopping up and down and back and forth fireing from the hip.

lol ive been searcing the archives for the last 15 min but I cant find it anymore, Guess they took it down its like 3 months old now anyways, I just remember how funny it was.

Geez, that is what I already figured out. But for you it is funny, not for me. That's MY point.

Admins note: If Gemüse can't laugh about it, it's his business. Sarcastic or inflammatory remarks, especially those implying that he'd prefer a German win in WW2, won't be tolerated.

Nems note: Reading the name 'Karl von Bunhopfen' was the first thing since the last Pratchett that made me actually rofl. Brilliant
