Studio Ghibli Licensed In Australia
<div class="IPBDescription">Weeeee, just for the anime fans!</div> I know not many of you will be too interested, but oh well. This made my day so I though I'd share.
10 Studio Ghibli films have been licensed for a Region 4 (Australia) release!
Bang on!
Spirited Away has already been released in Australia a while ago, and due to the overwhelming popularity of it Ghibli have entrusted Madman with quite a few other movies!
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
Laputa: The Castle in the Sky (1986)
My Neighbour Totoro (1988)
Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)
Only Yesterday (1991)
Porco Rosso (1992)
Pom Poko (1994)
Whisper of the Heart (1995)
My Neighbours the Yamadas (1999)
The Cat Returns (2002)
They will be released between April 2004 and May 2005.
The Grave of the Fireflies is seeing a Febuary 2004 release, but was previously announced before this very large announcment.
And I am well aware Ocean Waves (AKA Umi Ga Kokoieru) is not on the list. It hasn't seen a Region 1 release or license yet.
I personally cannot wait for Laputa, Totoro, Kiki, Porco and The Cat Returns! I pray for Special Edition releases like Spirited Away got (Digipack release. You know... fold out covers... like the Lord of the Rings Special Edition case)
So yes indeedy, big news for Aussie Anime fans.

OOooh, sweetness.
Good to see that Grave Of The Fireflies is in the pipeline, since i've not seen that around on DVD anywhere.
I saw that... 7 years ago I think... pretty good.
Ghibli on the big screen!
*prays for Laputa on the big screen*
Absolutely packed cinema full of anime nerds.
And the movie was subtitled.
Best Ghibli experience ever ^_^
