Suggestions?
I am in the market for a video card. I currently have a NVIDA GeForce 3 graphics card, but I would like to have a video card.

My Computer Specs:

1.6GHz P4
256MB RAM
NVIDA GeForce 3 Graphics Card
Windows ME

Any suggestions on a good video card? I'm looking for something within the $200-$400 range. Thanks.

    Dont buy ATi 9600, rather go for a 9700 or a 9500 as Xeroslayer stated

    His budget allows him to afford a radeon 9800 128mB, its 300 dollars at best buy. 256MB is like 400 dollars.

    What is your AGP port speed, if your speed is low then all that money spent on a highend card will go to waste. Also your computer itself won't benifit from anything better then a 9500.

    I have an AMD Athlon 2200+, your saying a 9800XT won't help more than a 9500?

    It would probably help you a lot more then him since you have a newer PC; but again AGP bus speed is important. Also depends on what you're going to play. If you're waiting for HL2 and want good GFX for that then just go for a 9500, you never know if it'll turn out to be a 9700 (this is common)

    Ahh. How much more does 8X AGP help? I've heard things ranging from its awesome and owns you to its only like .05% better than 4X.

    And what about this 9500 = 9700? I think I've heard about them being seriously great for overclocking. Is that what you mean?

    Some 9700s are labeled as 9500s so you have a chance of getting a better card

    Also, 4X -> 8x (Small Difference) 1X -> 8X (Big Difference)

    Yeah thats the word I heard. An 8x is great if your used to 2x. But from 4x its not that big a difference.

    Mislabeled? Laff. Some people are so stupid, I find it hilarious they label a much more expensive and better card for the lower one.
