I won't make a Dead Alewives joke.............................I WON'T!!!!!

But seriously, it's not as bad as making up those rules yourself (which a reoleplay group around here that I've played with a few times has actually done. Sad yet hilarious)

The unfortunate fact is that the D&D stereotype is shockingly accurate with a large amount of the player base. Maybe not 100%, but it's still damned close.

I'm gonna have to side with Esuna on that one, most people who play D&D are nerds. Or at least, that has been my experience. And that's........ok.

Great. Once again we get a derogative label slapped on us because we happen to like a game. Hey guys, here's an interesting piece of trivia! You're posting on a forum for a computer game! Sounds pretty geeky to me.

Christ. You know it's strange but out of the 5 people I play D&D with, 4 of them have girlfriends and I'm engaged. Yeah, we're all clueless nerds with no lives and who scream "OMG A GERL!? GG NO RE K THX BI!!!1111".

Yeah I like D&D. Yeah I like anime. Yeah I have 16 gigs of hentai jpegs. You got a problem with that?

Please, at least try to have a sense of humour.

I watch a lot of anime, and have played D&D in the past. Hell, i've even done LARP in the past. I am a total and utter geek, a bit of light-hearted self-mockery never killed anyone y'know.

Sorry if what i said offended you in any way, i really am, but please try to lighten up a bit.

I bring forth several points in my defence to your outrageous accusation and stereotyping of me being a "typical highschool jock".

I am 21 years old and currently doing a degree in Graphic Design in the University Of Essex, England.

I am, and have been for many years, an active member of several alternative "sub-cultures" and "scenes" including goths, ravers, punks, and many more

I have an absolute distate in all sports.

I smoke more than the average 21 year old should, hell, more than anyone should, thus screwing any possibility of me playing sport, should i be lobotomised.

Aside from my work on my degree i'm also a freelance web designer.

Over the last 2 years i have had 2 EPs of my own music in private distribution, mainly considered "futurepop" or "EBM". (EDIT: For clarification, by "private distribution" i mean on sale through independant retailers and not through any specific record label)

I am a vocalist in a hardcore / metalcore band.

So... with all the above points taken into consideration, please tell me why, exactly, i am a "typical highschool jock".

I never said you were a jock, Esuna. I said your first post sounded like something a jock would say. It didn't even sound sarcastic. Thus, several people took it the wrong way.

Edit: You can actually sing well like that, Esuna? Lots of skill there. I'm being serious. I love death/thrash/dark/and hardcore metal.

They all tie in pretty well.

From going to a lot of goth events, gigs and clubs i also listen to quite a bit of industrial and dark dance music. Through that i've been listening to more and more hardcore dance and so on, which leads me to go to raves.

As for the punk bit, well, i lie, that doesn't really tie in at all. I just love punk music so i'm out and about at punk gigs, festivals and events and so on.

well I'm mostly familiar with the punk scene around here and around here if a raver kid shows up to a punk show(which hardly ever happens), he gets beat, or at the very least no one talks to em. That's one of the things I don't really like about the NE, everyone bottles up around here.
  • TestamentTestament Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 4037Members
Oh yes, because all ravers dress like candy kids, and all punks have 3 foot tall red mohawks.

But to get back on topic - I'm not surprised (although I am highly amused). Ever since discovering that they have weapon stats for things like sticks and twigs, I figured it was pretty much inevitably until they have rules for everything (hmm.... that makes it sound like a cult, doesn't it? ).

Heh. I shudder to think of the day when computer RPG makers catch on. Blizzard not the least of which. Just imagine the new, uh, skill trees.

You mean like the Kama Sutra Master trait in Fallout 2?

I think a good romance in an online RPG can be fun for people to roleplay, but jesus, mating rituals? That's just...yeah.
