NS is mentioned in the gamespy grudge match between Half Life and Unreal Tournament.

Its nice to know that some of the big name website are still paying attention to the mod.

I had a brief jolt of glee when I read that, too.

I see NS get its share of props on Gamespy actually. It's nice to see it get the recognition it deserves.

They did a grudge match between NS and Desert combat on gameyspy a while back

desert combat wone by miles tho and peeps from the DC forums invaded here and flamed us for having crud PCs that couldn't handle DC so we had to play NS instead <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Haha I run NS on a Radeon 9800 system (other specs similarly "crud") and I'd NEVER think about playing anything else....even gave up CS and America's Army a few months ago to concentrate on NS

9700 Pro here. When I'm not playing NS, I'm fragging away at UT2K4, which is certainly more demanding than Desert Combat.

Yes. Not due to fair play, though.

It used to be, ns's glow has been dimmed it seems. Its not the same game I came to love <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Why? I will admit that nothing will ever replace those first few ambushes as a skulk but i think ns is just as fun as its ever been. Perhaps it is harder to get a game where theres a considerable period where either side could win but ns is just as fun for me. What do you miss?

It could be that it's harder to get a good game with NS going high-profile and a sudden influx of many players coming in....very hard to organize a good pub taht way.
I remember back in the days when NS 1.04 was still around, we would be able to arange games every now and then, and not have someone ruin it.

Now, it's way harder to organize it without someone else joining it....

BTW, about mentioning NS....well, it IS one of the mods keeping HL alive, and that's pretty good <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Besides, pitting it against a much more recent game is pretty unfair....not that it is THAT recent but still....it was released a year after HL :/
