Extremely High Gamma On Hl Crash

Using STEAM and NS, seeing as HL now randomly crashes, I one day had a crash and it made me ctrl+alt+del hl.exe. Unfortunately after that my gamma was about 15x what it should be.

Using resetgamma.exe: doesn't work
Sunglasses: Also dont work.

Its the standard high gamma on exit, its just that resetgamma.exe doesnt work.

NB : Work with Ati Video Card

This problem is due to the fact that Windows don’t realise you’re leaving Direct3D mode, if you use OpenGL you will run OpenGL by the Direct3D mode

Anyway this mean OpenGL is off but Direct3D don’t know (hl.exe crash or alt + tab)
So why is to HI in gamma? Because you change the Color Setting for Game,

For example (if you use the Catalyst Windows XP 4.3) you can change your color setting

Display Proprieties > Setting > Advance > Color Tab
And just click Desktop and or click on Full Screen 3D

Some people use this option to add gamma in game, if you crash windows don’t realize you’re not in a 3D mode… gatcha ?

Play with Ati Drivers options; you can add a profile with Windows Shortcuts Keys

    (Sorry for my English)

Same problem for me, I got a wierd fix:
(assuming you have an ATI card)

Go to "Display Properties", then "Advanced", then "Colors". You just have to click on that tab; as soon as the tab comes up the colors revert back to normal. Don't even have to click OK (you can "Cancel" all the way back) but as soon as that tab pops up, colors revert.

    Just my solution.
