To Those Who All Own/rent A Server

Alright,

I'm hopefully going to be working soon and I was thinking of getting a 14 player Ns server from Recon Gamers. Thinking of charging 5-10$USD a month for admin and 5$USD for reserve slots IE NSArmsLab (great friggin server).

Now I want to know is for those who host servers. If you don't mind sharing, what is your monthly income and what do you suggest for a beginner user like I?

Probably a mixture of Ns/Co. Some days will be both, others will be Ns or Co only.

NO BOTS btw. Nothing is more annoying when you're finding a server, you view info and see a bunch of bots. >=[

    I think you should really find a few good friends and give them admin access (for free) until your servers begin to become popular, and then choose admins from the regular players on your server.

    As for monthly income, well im in the UK and make about £150pw par time, but I just asked people in my clan to donate what they could and I got about £70 in total

    Our clan is currently looking for someone to share our Dual Xeon box with us for hosting costs...

    Basically you pay for CPU usage on the machine, and that's that.

    Well how good is your clan? I don't want to be part of a clan server that will eventually die at as most others then have the server fall.     hmm 14.. that reminds me i should start up a NSA 14 Slot server.. plenty of room on a 2.4ghz dual xeon.
    btw i have 2 servers that have money 4 admin and they dont work out too well anless you like looking at the logs for signs of admin abuse.

    Dont count on paying for your server by charging for admin/slots. You'll spend the first month just trying to get clients to play on it. There are lots of good servers out there. They will be your competition, and most of them dont charge. Make sure you have enough funds to support your server for 3-6 months. Get some popular plugins and maps. Get it full first, then think about charging for admin/slots.

    What I'm saying here is, if your going to fund your server buy charging for admin/slots, you'll need funds to pay for the server until it gets popular enough to do so.

    The server has been self supported since last year July, and the clan is about 6 years old.

    It was just an alternative to what you have, you're obviously not interested, since money seems to not be an issue for you.

    PS: The "goodness" of the clan, has nothing to do with the financial stability of a clan.
