The Server Starts to lag after a little while once we had more than 10 players on the server this can not be a box issue due to it being a 2.67Ghz , 1024 Mb DDR , 40 Gig HDD on a 100mbit line in Redbus London (UK) Any ideas/ <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    couldn't tell you other than steam has had a few problems with linux servers already (they are trying hard to fix)

    personaly i would check all of your hardware to make sure nothing is falty, that is most likely what is happening. altho i don't know if this would be easy for you that would be the thing to do.

    I really wish people knew what they were saying when they claim to have a 100Mbit connection. Listen, just because the little green 100Mbit light on your network card is lit does not mean you have a 100Mbit connection.

    On your linux box, when your players start to lag, type in:

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->
    vmstat 1 10
    <!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

    ...and post those results here. Also I'd like you to run the following command and post those results here as well.

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->
    ps -ef
    <!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

    I'm going to go out on a limb here and make two possible predictions: I'll bet you either have X running, you don't have an Internet connection with enough bandwidth (both upstream and down) to run a server or both. You really need to figure out what your actual capabilities are since a linux machine should NOT be lagging badly at 10 people.

    Is that box entirely dedicated to ns?

    Post the info that vadakill asked for and also your servers IP address.

    Our box was in Telehouse London previously and we had problems with our GSP's ISP. We have also seen problems with cross compatability when running some games along side NS.

    Definately need more info. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
