As I run a USB mic on XP and have similar problems I feel qualified to comment. Prior to going ingame open "Sound and Audio Device Properties" and click on "Audio" tab. In "Sound recording"'s dropdown box ensure your USB mic is selected, and also the "Volume" is maxxed.

update your sound card, xp, etc. also, I think theres a thing to see how much resources the ubs ports are using somewhere in windows. what else is on the usb port?
i dont have anything else on usb at the moment.. nothing else installed aswell. and my system is fully updated. I also tried to max te volume.. vut that doen't work neither. any other suggestions?
tnx
joost
any onther ids?
tnx
Tried that yet?
make it like 30 should fix your cutting out problem
Now turn on voice_loopback and try your mic
If the icon is still flashing on and off, you have a keyboard problem.
If it stays on, your config and rates are messed up.
Try this too: Options>Voice> Test Microphone
see how that sounds
Try updating your sound card and keyboard drivers
i'm getting desperate
help me
tnx

Run a program like Ad-Aware to scan for spyware
Are you using any special keyboard programs?
Basically I've tried:
-Updates
-Analog Mic (this works perfectly)
-Keyboard (not the problem)
-No hardware conflicts
-No software conflicts
-Toyed with almost every cl command in console
Nothing seams to work. If anyone has any ideas as to how to fix the "choppyness", then I'm all ears. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->

let me know if it worked
try entering voice_loopback 1 in the console. you should hear youself. if this isn't working check if your mic isn't muted in windows
I can hear myself sometimes and sometimes not. It's not FPS related and my netgraph is always green and leveled so I'm mostly sure it's not lag or an fps problem. I can't think of anything else except Steam doing something.
I mean my mic worked perfectly with WON. <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif' /><!--endemo-->
