<div class="IPBDescription">glow</div> ok...i was playing on a server that had the Glow Pluggin (where u type glow red and u start glowing red) and i really think the glow looks cool. so...is there anyway that i can get the glow to stay on my model even if im not on a server with that pluggin? like is there something i can add to my models or sprites folder that will make my model have that glow ingame(like take something out of the glow pluggin zip file and put it in my folder)?

That would mean double poly per-player and loss of smoothing groups (don't work through additives, dunno why.)
Basically you would find it VERY easy to see other enemies, even if their hiding. You might as well just reskin your player models bright red and release it as "l337 model hack v092365", it's just as unfair on other players.
So yeah, doing a model with this glow effect would be 2x the polycount and a game cheat.
but theres nothing i can add to a cfg file or anything that will make it look like this?
Although it wouldn't move about like the glow texture does (IIRC), and you'd only end up clogging your PC and negatively affecting your gameplay experience.
Thats just a hypothesis mind you.

chrome feature for a reason.
1) open HLMV
2) go to texture screen
3) click "chrome"
4) do this for every texture on the model (or the parts you want cromed only)
5) back up your old model
6) click "save model" and save it as the previous file name to see it in game.
It is possible with HLMV, yeah, but to get the model scaled up initially, you'd have to decompile and do some playing around.
Btw, sorry guys for flying off the handle about the model hacks thing, guess i missed the initial point.
And as for the spheremap idea, yes it would work, but i believe the spheremap only moves when the model does, so other than reloading or animations with lots of movement, the effect won't be seen quite so much. It may be worth a try, but i don't think the effects will be anything like the intended effect.
its like 3 clicks for chrome.
The answer is no. You can't make a glowing model like the one in the screenshot. Can you create an effect like the one posted? Yes, and no. To do so you need to decompile the model, duplicate the gun, scale it up, create a new additive texture, apply chrome settings, and recompile.
By doing so, you're doubling the model's polycount, and the amount of glow on the model is entirely dependent on the amount of lighting in the area. Stand in a dark corner or under blue lights, and you're not going to see anything. And there are lots of dark corners in NS.
You're on the start of a decent idea, skullz_nixon, but the 3 click method simply does not do the job here.
~thanx for the replys~
