Spyware Woes

Oh those casinos...
I have a friend that's running windows98, and she is getting these annoying as hell spyware programs.

Anyway, quite awhile ago, she was duped into clicking an AIM virus link in someone's profile. She then got this "Golden Casino" spyware-sorta thing that is hard as anything to remove. I got her some removal instructions and they worked, but now there is some "Vegas Red Casino" crap junking up the system.

Does anybody know of any quick, easy, cure-all tools made just for this stupid thing (or maybe even a general spyware detector that will get all of it) to get rid of this thing? (short of reformatting, which is an option which i may perform for her if this doesn't get fixed)

Any huge lists of registry keys/files to remove would be helpful, but not exactly what i'm looking for, as she isn't 100% computer savvy, but good enough to figure out some spyware removal programs.

Thanks.

As Thansal said, Adaware, Spybot and Housecall. Adaware and Spybot are the 2 most used spyware removal programs, and Housecall is the best online antivirus that I've found.

dah, my friend got one of those AIM profile virus things too. problem is, I searched for the filename... and I didn't find anything. looked like she was the first one infected, or one of the first. nothing popped up.

(the profile says, "lol hey guys check out ht tp://molotov.u s/itr/lmao.scr for a good laugh :-)"
    help!

The best way to track down spyware/malicious programs that Adaware or Spybot dont see, is to close all extra programs and take a look at the task menu for anything thats out of place. If its not suppose to be there look up the exe with search to verify what it is then end the process/delete. Oddly enough, googling diffent processes is effective too.

You can also try HiJackThis to check for malicious browser extensions as well, just be careful not to remove any legit items as it can break your browser!
