As I said, I hope that happens.
I don't realy mind malicious hackings (defacing web pages etc) as meathods of carying on a grudge, b/c well they are as chilidish (and mostly noneffective) as carying said grudge. But once you start dealing with stuff like theft, then there are issues.
My sympathies to the mod team though. Getting your site hacked sucks. It sucks even more when people who don't understand or give a crap are all "ME ME ME YOU **OWE** ME THE MOD, HOW DARE YOU NOT RELEASE!" in their irc channels...
Any hacker good enough to not get caught isn't going to deface a mod website for $600, which means the sons of **** WILL be caught and prosecuted.
And why the hell would somebody have $600 in their PAYPAL account? O.o
yeah it indeed sucks man for hlrally, lol i got banned from irc channel so i couldnt see what was going on =/ yeah anyways i hope they get the police on this hacker for them to get there money back
Here's what I don't get. They said $600 was withdrawn... withdrawn how? Payment to another PayPal account? The only way I can figure they stole the money from the PayPal account is by giving up some kind of their financial details, which is really monumentally stupid. Is there any way to send money from a PayPal account without providing some kind of identifying details?

the semi untraceable ways of doing it would be:
1) Have paypal cut you a check to a PO Box (I don't think thay are that smart/prepared)
2) buy something.
either way I hope that paypal will stop processing the payment request when they get an email from him.
And if they guy was stupid enugh to transfer it to another paypal account or to a bank account... well he will be getting smacked arond by the cops shortely <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And you know what? These guys just got attacked for trying to release a mod to the public. They have no friken obligations or anytihng! They have their priorities, so friken deal with it.
People like the hacker are barely a shade worse then people like you.
Oh boo hoo, I'll cry a river for every incompetent web admin from now on.
If n-s.org got hacked, hell, if any halfway decent website got hacked, you really think it'd take over 12 hours to get it back up? Do they even have backups of their pages and design? Everything I hear says 'NO'.
Let's see, what happens when someone cries that they got the Blaster worm or nimda virus or something from opening random email attachments? They'd be laughd out of the room.
What happens when someone gets a virus that exploits IE vulnerabilities? "WTH newb dont use IE." "omg use mozilla" "WTH firebird, newb"
What happens when an insecure site with no backups or, well, jack crap in terms of recovery gets hacked. "Awww man I feel so sad."
Is there any way to completely remove a forum member's posts from my view? Like, say, if I wanted to ignore EEK (just as an example) because all of his posts were flamey and ignorant (which I'm just saying as a hypothetical situation). That would be a really awesome feature.

I think basic human needs take priority over the website -and- the game itself.
They're also re-installing brand new software on the server to help prevent future issues, so that takes a bit more time. On top of that, the site -needs- to be up during the release as it's going to be hammered by people finding the mod linked for download and looking for more information.
Yes, the game is more important than the website, but ensuring a smooth release when it -does- come out should be top priority over everything else, as it involves all aspects of the team's work.

Nice work, boys. You got a topic locked because I don't have the time or energy to go and delete 2 pages' worth of your flaming.
Apologies to the HL Rally people. Anyone who wants to legitimately discuss HL Rally, please create a new topic. Gadzuko and EEK, kindly stay the heck out of it.
