I liked it a lot, personally. Since seeing it a friend loaned me his Hellboy comic collection, and the movie did a pretty damn good job of capturing Hellboy's attitude and the style of the comic in general. There were a lot of little touches, too, that come right out of the comic book (e.g. Hellboy's line near the end, "I'm going to be sore in the morning.")

sorry, I hang out at a comic/gaming store to much <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Trade = Trade Paperback Generaly it is a colection of a full story arc into one book (for instance, those of you who have read Sandman probably only saw it in Trades, where as it was originaly released in singles).

the trailer shows a LOT of different stuff (it has to), and still it doesn't get the story across.
this is what you should know going into the movie or the comix.
hellboy is a demon. or he probably is. he looks like one. he appeared out of nowhere in the 1940s, most likely as a result of a nazi project dealing in the supernatural.
the nazis of hellboy's world were much like the ones of the real world: towards the end of WWII, they were getting a bit panicked. unlike the real world counterparts, <i>hellboy</i>'s nazis are more like the ones from indiana jones: they'll do anything and everything to win the war. in the comics, the nazis channel ghosts, root through tombs, and spelunk to the deepest reaches of ancient caverns, looking for anything to help the failing third reich. hellboy is a product of their efforts.
fast-forward to the present: hellboy's working for the US gov't as an agent of the Paranormal Research and Defense bureau or something like that. the movie takes place mostly in this era.
im a comic fan ive never really been into hellboy but man april 16th is my day cuz the punisher is my home fry.
trade = a collecetion of comics that were previously sold at an earlier day. and the single comic is out of print so they make about 7 comics in a trade for marvel. They sell at about from 15 - 20 dollars USD. its cool if you get into a series late and you could read what previously happend. Thats what i did with ultimate spiderman.

Walked out halfway through and demanded our money back. It was terrible, in my opinion.
