    Poi's basicly swinging glowsticks on string. It looks really cool if you're good at it. I have some videos if anyone's interested.

    Actually, I gotta admit, the smokescreen and the fade/longglow effects are pretty cool!

    BTW- where do you get the glowsticks to use??? Is it just any ole glowing stick?

    <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> YOu need a better vid cam/ web cam <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Also, where do you learn to do this? Is this an official sport???

    And AWSOME nunchucks (I spelled that wrong I know...0o)

    There's video's, but it's a waste. Learning from someone that knows how to do it is best. I'm learning from the Videos I find online. It's not an official sport, more of a hobby.

    The two glowsticks tied together? Yeah, pretty cool.

    hehe, can you help me learn?

    as in, tell me where to find the vids or a place to learn at (I suck at finding hobby locations 0o;)

    Hehe, fun to slow the vids down by 50% or speed em up 2.5x normal speed

    REALLY makes the effects look different, tho slowing it down to about 75% is helpful to see what he's doing to make hte sticks move that way!

    If you really want to learn.

    You should ask me. Been doing it for 2 years. <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And if you don't like the music, then get out. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Most poi users/glowstringers have eletronica. And learn Techno from other kinds of electronica.

    Techno = a type of electronica.
    Personally myself, i'm not a big fan of techno. It's too repeitive.

    I'm more:
    Hard/Trance, Deep/Hard/House, Jungle, DnB, Hardcore.

    www.glowsticking.com

    That site has a bit of videos, you need to register though. Registration's free, but registering for anything's boring. ^_^

    www.houseofrave.com

    You can get some videos there, most from GS.com, but without a registration. But the server's really slow.

    That's really all I know of right now.

    Thank you, now I know what Poi is....now for the comment on the mpicture.

    Looks pretty good <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> I like how you convey the motion of the glowsticks <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    But I was hoping for more of a lightsaber effect (glowsticks do that to a certain extent, especially in motion)

    how can you have the strings touch and spin around each other and not get tangled when they cross? Wheneven the strings on mine touch in the slightest, they get tangled and it's impossible to get them off...

    Actually, I've only sen the GIFs, but from what I heard, it was his 'friends' who recorded it.

    LOL at Nanites. But I really wonder though, are those normal strings?

    Shoe strings are most commonly used.

    They usually don't hit if you have your flow right. It's about timing a huge majority of the time.

    Bleh, here's a pic several months ago.

    You spin them somewhat diagnolly, so they don't colide, and one a bit in front of the other.

    Hitting your nuts isn't to bad[Unless you're doing some really fast leg wraps], but you'll bust your knuckles alot. I usually numb my pinky if I hit it once.

    I know that,
    I just saw in your videos that there are some moves where the performer intentionally tangles the strings and gets the sticks to spin very fast as he pulls them apart. When I do it, I can't do any moves that have the strings come in contact with other, because they get tangled no matter what. When you do this, do you have a special kind of glowstick/string setup so that there's nowhere to get tangled... or something?
