i still have my c:\games\half-life\ns directory from 2.0, i renamed it to nsp. i did a copy of the c:\...\steamapps\me@bla.bla\half-life\nsp\*.* to the c:\games\half-life\nsp directory.
i configured hammer and zhlt to use that directory without starting steam.
of course if you update your c:\...\steamapps\...\ *.fgd and *.wad you have to do the same with your testing directory.
i did not find this myself, a couple of weeks ago i had problems with steam aswell and after posting something somewhere finally i person told me to do this.
that was cuz i fixed a quick ns_testmap.rmf with a succesfull bsp compilation and when steam started my local server my system halted without error output.
Well, I'm happy to try to help you out but I need a bit more info beyond "nothing loads" Paste part of your compile log or something. Tell me exectly what steps you do to compile. I need more info.

For some reason on the advanced compile they called rad light tool. You would think they would keep the naming convention constent. Everythink looks ok except for the map change failed. Try posting the last several lines of your compile log.

I got the compile tools in XP-cageys thread, installed them and setted them up, moved RAD directly under VIS but i do not know how to sort out the compile.
Remember when you get help online you need to give as much information (that is relavent) as you can. What do you mean by "sort out the compile"? If you installed XP-Cagey's tools and set up the paths in hammer, then set up the compile options like my guide it should be working better. Post a new compile log and we'll see if you're still having trouble with set up or if it's a map problem.

I tryed using the autofix in VH however it deleted half my map which is worrying so i didn't use the auto fix. I downloaded HLfix and unzipped it, but when i click the program it flashes a a screen then does nothing, any tutorials on how to use HLfix for NS ?
Be carefull using the Error Checker in Hammer when you don't know how they 'fix' things. Can't help you with the HLFix since I've never used it. I would look some stuff up but I really should be consentrating on my JAVA programming class since that's where I am now.
Edit: If VH deleted half your map, I'm curious as to why you are getting those areas. What kind of crazy geometry are you trying to make?
but mapping in the old 2.0 is less error creating... fix the "wah!!!-I-cant-rotate-things-when-steam-is-running!!!"-error by closing steam. the newest version of steam allows this, the old one didnt.

Its trying to copy the file, but it looks like you didn't specify the file name correctly. Check the setup of your batch compiler.
unless you map is actually called marcbastianvolle@hotmail.map, which eveything about building a map doesnt like the @ symbol, so you would have to rename it.
Everything else fails because they are suppose to if the first function fails.
The no filename/file not found error is caused by placing your maps within your SteamApps\email@host.ext, because the period in the folder causes the tools to think that the file is actually called "email@host.map". Simply move your .map file somewhere else and compile from there. Once XP-Cagey releases the new compile tools, this will be fixed.

i still have my c:\games\half-life\ns directory from 2.0, i renamed it to nsp.
i did a copy of the c:\...\steamapps\me@bla.bla\half-life\nsp\*.* to
the c:\games\half-life\nsp directory.
i configured hammer and zhlt to use that directory without starting steam.
of course if you update your c:\...\steamapps\...\ *.fgd and *.wad you have to do the same with your testing directory.
i did not find this myself, a couple of weeks ago i had problems with steam aswell and after posting something somewhere finally i person told me to do this.
that was cuz i fixed a quick ns_testmap.rmf with a succesfull bsp compilation and when steam started my local server my system halted without error output.

You need to click on each empty box in the "Compile/run commands" dialog to tell Hammer to run the commands.
The boxes will have checkmarks when each command has been turned on.
I also notice that you don't have rad set up by maybe you did that on purpose.
You also have all the compile/run commands unchecked (at least in this screen) and hammer only runs the commands which you have checked.

Its trying to copy the file, but it looks like you didn't specify the file name correctly.
Check the setup of your batch compiler.
unless you map is actually called marcbastianvolle@hotmail.map, which eveything about building a map doesnt like the @ symbol, so you would have to rename it.
Everything else fails because they are suppose to if the first function fails.
