    It's true. There are techniques you can use while running in straight lines to boost yourself up 140%-150% base speed

    It's pretty insane

    I think some of you either don't know what scripts are, or don't know what they can do in NS.

    here's your basic bhop script:
    // triple jump
    alias 1jump "+jump; wait; -jump; wait;"
    alias +bjump "1jump; 1jump; 1jump; 1jump; 1jump; 1jump; 1jump; +jump; wait"
    alias -bjump "-jump"

    this jumps several times in succession, so you don't "stick" to the ground as you jump. if you've ever played a quake game, you'll remember how you could hit the jump button in midair, and still perform a jump ASAP as you land. this is what this script does. some people prefer to use the mousewheel over this, but personally this gives me more control as I'm bhopping. you can bhop without said script, but unless you've got ub3r perfect timing, you're probably gonna stick to the ground every few seconds, even with the most basic bhop manuevers. if you plan on making more complex jumps (i.e. jumping on fences, jumping down platforms etc.) this script allows you to jump as soon as you land. however, this script does NOT do the mouse movements required for bhopping, which can often be just as hard to learn as timing the jumps. note that <b>this does not take ANY control or speed away from the bhop. anyone who tells you this is either retarded or a liar</b>

    a common pistol script:
    // pistol script
    alias +pscript "+attack;"
    alias -pscript "-attack; wait; +attack; wait; -attack;"

    this fires once as you press the button down, and again as you let go. if you fire and let go too fast, this script has no effect as you'll be firing faster then the pistol RoF. with some practice tho, you should be able to fire at the max RoF 90% of the time. some people can fire at the maximum RoF naturally (at least they say they can...), but this helps make your firing rate more consistent. this does take "some" control away from you, but it rarely makes a difference.

    leap bite/blink swipe scripts on the other hand really do take away a good level of control from you. personally I use the default slot1-4 keys, but some people use lastinv. lastinv is serverside, so the weapon change might be delayed depending on your ping. from what I hear, this script should make a "clientside" lastinv

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->// client side lastinv -- romano

    In France if u want to be able to play at a lan, u must use a "default cfg"

    Here is mine, "hud_fastswitch 1" is needed, and the mice is an Logitech MX310.

    I feel a lock coming soon...

    Anyway, some scripts can be helpful, but they won't teach you anything. Better to learn to play for yourself.

    As for control, that kind of depends on the type of script.

    I have to say, out of all the scripts I've tried, the clientside lastinv script has been 10x as useful as any other, including the _special scripts of 2.01. I'm pretty sure those are all server side. I tried out both Romano's slotx script and I changed it to use the weapon_ commands and it was still lagged by the server. I just use lastinv now... because the clientside lastinv scripts aren't clientside at all they're just a waste of space <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    It does. At least to some extent. Because, when I switch to most recent weapon(usually leap) real quick after biting, I will actually leap, not just spontantenously lose adrenaline - while I wasn't trying to leap, I prefer getting a leap for my energy rather than just instantly losing the energy for no good reason.

    I don't think it's either. It seems to be more of a purist playing mentality. I don't hack or script, and I know that sometimes I get a feeling of resentment because I'm doing more work than a person who does script, but it's my own decision. Anyone who knows what a script is and how to make one, but doesn't use the ability, feels that they want to just be amazing at the game through actual Hand - Eye coordination and raw ability, instead of those things AND scripting knowledge. Are steroids in sports "cheating?" Scripts are like steroids or speed pills. They might make you a lot better in some areas, but they've got the ability to backfire as well.

    Yes, tilt down at a proper angle and run forward without holding duck. This is the same problem as "wall strafing" but done against the floor. Hardly very useful though, runing around into walls hardly seeing anything.

    navigate with the map and rush locations faster than you should be able too...

    probably more of an advatage in a game like CS then ns anyways. The binds I have that you can't set in the options menu are say and say_team binds. Last inv is a options menu bind, it can hardly be called scripting. I have nothing against simple scripts like quick switch and duck jump, to me is kind of like saying someone cheats because they bought a mouse with more buttons so they can use more commands at the same time then everyone else.

    what about admin scripts that allow me to repeatedly slap you without having to pull down the console? (my entire numpad is bound to admin_messagemode X and admin_nomessagemode ^^)

    i usually trust my fingers more than my (or anyone else's) scripts, i've tried them ... i play better without them.

    oh, does +move(up/down) count as scripting? (<i>very</i> useful as a skulk, helps with wallwalking)

    <!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->alias stopmv "-forward; -back; -moveup; -down"

    alias -wall "stopmv; bind w +forward; bind s +back"<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

    or just have some button bound to +moveup (i have it on my mouse) it's the only one you really need.

    and yes, you could make a set of aliases that let you convert +forward to +moveup when you executed +wall ... but that requires too much typing ^^

    Communist with a gun tried to make fun of me by copying my quote and saying I was stupid. He said the pistol has a set rate of speed so there arent any pistol scripts so I was nub. Well in the quote he copied it states that this problem was fixed, but there USED to be pistol scripts. It seems those silly commies cant read still...

    There are bh scripts, but they do take away some control. You can still use a pistol script if you suck at clicking fast or spinning mouse wheel. Like I stated, scripts wont make you elite they will just make you better if you suck. I dont consider some scripts like last inv or fastswitch to be scripts though. They come with the game and are just preferences.

    Without joining it? Yeah, but probably only with third-party server searching programs like <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com' target='_blank'>the All-Seeing Eye</a>(with which you can select a server and see all options it has set)...

    I feel I should just add a little point to this - probably one of the few scripting examples that could be considered cheating is the fade blink-metabolize script that allows you to blink then instantly metabolize and you end up with a fade with perfect control (so easy to use), never runs out of adrenaline, and is more or less impossible to kill due to the constant metabolise while 'blinking'.
    Hopefully this will be removed in the next release which is due any second (I hope)

    Hopefully this will be removed in the next release which is due any second (I hope) <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I don't find it terribly hard to hit my Q key and do the exact same thing. (I'm not even that great as a fade, but doing a blink-metab isn't too difficult regardless...)
