Problem with the manual

I know im goin to get flammed
Right like i said i know im goin to get flammed, and don't get me wrong i have never seen a more well drawn manual ever in my life. It has the most content and stays in context.

But i have one problem. Maybe i haven't looked hard enough but where is the information about the pop up menu commands for easy access, i know there will be lots of newbies (me for example) will be wondering where the hell is all the button commands, or how do i use the pop up menu. all i see is lots and lots of useful information about what is going on in a "roleplay-ish" aspect, and like i said i haven't read it through and through, but i don't see how you actually play the game.

Yah so let the flamming begin, please excuse my ignorance if im completely wrong, im really tired after going to boxing lessons and i am having trouble focusing. So if i someone could point me to the gameplay pages of the manual please do so.

EDIT: Just to make a lil clearer, i mean the the technicallities, and mechanics of the game.

EDIT2: Ya so i screwed up the manual is insanely awesome, but i still couldn't find anything about the HUD and the Right Clicky Menu Thingy(Fatigue Setting in so sue me)

It isn't just you. I found that strikingly absent as well. The manual seems to be more of a PR/General Resource manual rather than a "Game Oriented" manual. I pray that a PT shall bless us with this information.

    Not sure what I mean?
Go to "voting out a commander". It tells you that you CAN- but not how. Same with evolutions and such. A Quickstart guide would be much appreciated.

Note- this is not to knock the manual- its amazing and great! It would just be nice to have a functional guide to the new features explained in game terms, not story terms.

I have to agree with you. It is a beautiful manual and it's great for the atmosphere of the game, but it does lack on the actual "playing" side of things.

The HUD and waypoint links both go to Alien Hivesite. Not a biggy, but it's annoying. If you want actual info on the Marine HUD, open up the images directory and look for marinehud.jpg.

I really hate to say this, but can we get a patch for the manual to fix the link issues and fill us in on what button to push?

Yup. A great manual but I would have liked it even more if it would´ve had console commands and the popmenu commands.

The HUD link issue has been fixed.

This manual is not designed to give you every last detail of the game. If you want lists of cvars and such, there is a separate reference for that. This guide is designed for the majority of the players, and is written informally with more backstory and fitting of the game into the NS universe. It is not a dictionary of NS - it is a way to learn enough to get started. This is by design.

The reason you guys are constantly complaining about 'n00bs who do not RTFM' is because manuals are usually boring and sucky. This manual is designed to overcome that fact.

and it does that job very well.

I personally loved the addition of stories concerning each alien.

That was my favorite part as well... plus it was very nice to finally have a list of all armor/health strenghts for each class, and all of the aliens stuff too... plus attack and evolution descriptions w00t! very purteh.

Mons, I have but one problem with the manual's construction. It fulfills it's intent in introducing the game to a new user by immersion, but the hierarchy is quite confusing at times. It's easy to get lost or figure out what to read next. The content, however, is excellent. The tech-tree is especially helpful and informative.

The right mouse button is attached to the pop up menu is it not? From there you can access everything needed. NS looks to be a very easier to learn, hard as hec to master game. But thats just from what I have heard and seen.
