Nah it's intended to let you see through walls. typically players are drawn ontop of walls even though they are behind or walls are drawn transparent.

Sooner VAC comes the better as far as I'm concerned. It stops most opengl wallhacks from working properly and would probably detect the cheat with the menu you had as that's one of the 'general' things it looks for. Plus it stamps a 1 year ban onto confirmed cheats on all secure servers.

No, if you read under the aimbot one, he said that he didn't set the vecs of it, which caused all the shots to "miss." I don't think cheats are that hard to distinguish really, since the attention span of most players is shorter than a hair's width and they want to just go in and start fragging. That ESP was interesting, but the demo was really too short to show off what it can do and what you said about showing you the reload. The wall hack, woulda been more spectacular if I didn't have to crank my gamma to see the video and thus blind me!

I have spectated many people before and seen many cheats, some very obvious. A few aimbots where the person would quickly jump to a gorge to the far right side of his screen, that was cloaked mind you, and shoot him through a set of OCs, killing him almost instantly. I have to agree, what is the fun of that? The only reward is being a super fragger, and witht he scoreboard now, we may see more. (Wish it was removed truthfully, at least the kills and deaths part. Now I get depressed when I see my 8:22 K: D.) It also demotes the teamwork of NS and puts more people in the "FRAG EM ALL!" mood it seems.

On topic, I'm glad someone is making a way for people to see how these hacks look and maybe figure out a way to counter them when an admin isn't present or be able to detect. As for VAC, I sur ehope it does a good job as they say it's doing. But then, I haven't seen a cheater in months so....

Esuna: What kind of models do you use? I like the red look of everything and the darker look of the skulk.

Of course there is.

What VAC does (if it keeps on updating like it has been) will be to make it very difficult for your average joe to cheat, who just downloads it off a generic cheat site. The cheat he downloads will most likely be detected and so he won't be able to harm anyone.

From a cheat coder's point of view it would be better to make hacks for himself/few friends but not to release it to the public because it would get deteceted so quickly and he will have effectively wasted his time.

So, yes, we'll still have cheaters but it will most likely be few and far between.

I'd have to pose one problem when accusing people that use even the blatantly obvious aimbots... though only in the case of the shotgun. It is because of a great game called Quake 3. Any Q3er that has played for any decent amount of time has developed a knack to use the railgun very well... to the tune of 60+% accuracy. One particular caveat of the rail is that it is very accuracy sensitive... if you're off by even a fraction of a fraction of a unit then it will miss. Being the fast paced game that it is also leads to the tendency of players to develop a technique called "the twitch." This is more on the level of letting your sub-conscious guide your aim rather than consciously trying to aim at someone. Players with highly developed twitch responses can seem deadly accurate with these one-time shot weapons (rail, shotgun, rocket launcher) and often will fire at someone/something without actually realizing it and result in countless "accidental" kills.

This became a problem in Quake 3 when cheats became more prevalent because you couldn't really differentiate between many players that had refined twitch skills using these accuracy sensitive, one-time shot weapons and the people that were using aimbots as many times a good shot from one of these weapons meant a kill in either case. There wasn't much tracking involved on some aimbots... they could be configured to activate only when a shot was fired and delay the shot until it could find a target in sight and in range for the specific weapon in use and simulate the "twitch" response.

Thankfully, twitching is a lot less prevalent in NS and many other HL based games and so the aimbots tend not to simulate this behavior much. That doesn't mean that people don't have said twitch skills and many times these skills are accompanied by accusations of cheating. I suppose this only further emphasizes the point that you can't really accuse many cheats (especially aim-botting) from the recieving end... you HAVE to obvserve.

Demo's can't show the likes of ESP, fullbright, whitewalls or wallhacks. I'm taking these .avi's straight from ingame using fraps and the only editing i've done with them is to resize and compress them. Nothing more.

oh.. and esp is likely the most deadly cheat in existence.. especially since it can be highly undetectable in the right (wrong) hands. Experimented with it on my LAN back when I played CS and had countless sessions where I never died at all. The sad part was that most of the other people just said that I was particularly on fire those days and not even once was I ever accused of cheating.

I used to be a cheater, still know pretty much all about it. You don't really need wallhack, as long as you have ESP. I used to have weaponnames, names, and distance in it. But I honestly got bored of all the cheating. So I started playing without.

A friend of mine, [name-here], made the first working aimbot for ns actually.

I'm still curious as to how ESP would really help in NS besides giving away an enemies position, which is easily obtained through SoF/MT or sound. Are there any other benefits from it other than that?

Esuna: Cool, thanks for the links. Using the alien mods, might try the building ones, like those over the ninja pack.

ESP helps a helluva lot.

Sure, you can have SoF, and sure, you can have Motion tracking...

But can you know that there are 3 skulks in the room youre walking into with one at 10hp, another at 20hp, and the last at 70 all waiting to ambush you? Its not very hard to kill three skulks when you know where they are and which ones to hit first.

Also, on the alien side, itd be pretty damn useful(if you were into hacking) to know how many people were in the hive you were about to Onos rush, how much hp/armor the HA youre fighting has, or one of any number of things.

ESP is evil, and very hard to prove.

Benifits of ESP compared to SoF/MT
1. you have ESP as soon as you start the game, you don't need to recearch/build chamder
2. ESP locks on with high fps. If you aim at the ESP location you will hit the target, compared with MT which lags behind a fast moving player thus only really giving away his aproximate location
3. ESP shows you cloaked units when they are crawling/standing still. It also very likely can give you that status of a unit behind a wall and tell you it is cloaked
4. ESP gives you hitpoints, status such as reloading, and other relevent statistics like distance from you and current weapon as far as the length of the whole map. Obviously this is a major advantage as you know when someone is about to put up a new hive, or hiding in the dark, or just started reloading, or currently gestating into an onos, or pretty much everything about them.

As a side note, it is practically impossible to catch people ESP hacking in NS short of an increadible fluke, or VAC. If accused they will simply claim that they had motiontracking/scent of fear.
