<div class="IPBDescription">Bandwidth heavy thread! Lots of screens!</div>I decided to open a seperate thread for this because it may get too big for the existing one. If a mod feels I was
dumb in this then feel free to concat this one onto the end of the other one.
For those that don't know, the developers of City of Heroes decided to end the beta in a very spectacular fashion:
by hosting an alien invasion to kill off the hero populace (i.e. all us beta testers). Doubling as the final stress
test before launch, they requested every single beta tester to be there during the scheduled times.
And OMG was it awesome. Like 100 heroes JUST IN ONE AREA all fighting like 100 super strong alien monsters! It was
awesome.
But enough of my crap, here's what you came for: The screenshots!
Keep in mind that this is only a very very very small subset of what was going on limited to a very small area! The
same thing was happening with just as many (if not more) people in about 40 other areas (different zones + instances
of each zone)
I'll only link the best ones, but there are a total of 87 (!) shots

The alien ships were absolutely HUGE. Like, if you were to put them to real-life scale they'd be about an entire
city block.

The Rikti sent in troops, but a platoon of heroes was waiting!

Its worth noting that this is the emptiest the streets of Paragon City have ever been. Citizens, police, and even
the ruthless gangs all fled to their hiding places when the Ritki arrived...

Here's your humble narrator using his Gravity Control powers to hurl an old refridgerator at a foe. Gravity control
pwns btw. I can throw cars, barrels, even forklifts at my enemies!

And if you can't throw something at the enemy, you can throw them up in the air too! This is a big dude so he
doesn't go as high, but damage is coorelated to how much they fall. Chaining this lift with another Gravity
Controller produces deadly results and nasty stains on the sidewalk. :)

I told you those things were freakin big! You through the statue was big, this thing makes it seem like an anthill!
Finally, the madness ends with the answer to the culprits behind this most heinus scheme:

Good luck, I work at one over in Pennsylvania. It's a pretty sweet job.
Thus, I bring you my own look at these monsters..
Which is odd, considering none of my characters can fly, one would not expect that I would be able to go anywhere near them..
But I did! huzzah! Thats to extravagently designed towering buildings and masterful jumping, I reached eventually the sky limit.. To bring you my view of these machines.
The first is from my first expidition up the walls of a building.. It pleased me greatly to know that even though I could not fly, I was not vertically immobile

The second one, is from when I reached the sky limit.. As high as I can go.. I think I was the first flight-challenged character to reach it. Go me!

I actually didn't spend much time as part of the fight.. couldn't find really find where "the fight" was.. by the time I got there everything was gone..
Which caused me to become bored..
and eventually lead to the need to find something better to do.. ie: learn how to get really high without flying.
They might want to add a climbing ability at a later point.. but until then, I'm happy with my version.. its actually quite fun, and at times can require a very precise timing.. Some times you hit things while jumping.. and get knocked back a bit.. yeah. Thats not good to do a couple hundred feet up..

And that's where I saw it.
70+ heroes all fighting off level 15+ Rikti...it wwas beautiful, but I turned everything to lowest and still didn't get over 3FPS.
Bahahahahahaha. That made my day.

This was "Cmdr.Digen" one of the GM playing as an invincible Ritki trooper. Yes invincible. But everyone still attacked.

I only got to level 4 in the original, and it was somewhat cool even then, just freelancing by myself, with no group affiliation. I can't wait until some sort of teamwork might be had.
Any thoughts on a Supergroup for the NS forumites?
they where just standing there, sometimes they moved around a bit, but dont even attacked us.. i think the admins fuxed up the invasion... it was helluva boring,and endet with all heroes makin jumpin jacks.. bah...
but the beta was fun

Oh wow, you can look cool.
No and no. CoH has no items. And you lose no XP. What you get an XP debt. Basically it halves the XP you gain until you work off that debt. Negligible at low levels, but my friend had 6 bulbs of XP debt at one time.
