The lambda symbol is also use by some ****/lesbian groups, but thats a pretty obscure reference, so I doubt anyone would know about it.

I would advise you do the HL symbol and just have it outlined in black, that way its distinguishable. And be sure to get it on your upper shoulder, should you ever go for a job interview or something and wear a short sleeved dress shirt, you wouldn't want a tatoo showing (unless of course, you have a pretty kickass workplace ).

Personally, I would just get a t-shirt printed up with the HL logo Much more visible.

EDIT: Hehe, can't say the g-word but you can say lesbian... hmm... MAN THIS IS LESBIAN! Nah, just dosen't have the same ring to it.

Ahaha, do it!

If you really wanna do something crazy, get a full-sized Gordon tat on your back. That'd own.

Why not go full-on nerd and get odd runes tattoed all over your body, including some obscure references to Create Greater Undead, Magic Missle, Mordenkainen's Disjunction, et cetera.

If anyone asks, point to the Create Greater Undead one, and say it'll turn you into a vampire when you die, and the others will allow you to add the "Spell-Stiched" template to your character sheet.

TSA logo, at least there will be like only 5 girls in the world who actually know what it is. I have the feeling more people than you would guess have seen the HL logo a good couple times.

hl logo for the win, get it in pitch black and when people ask you about it tell them if they dont know they dont need to

I agree with doing it in black.

Of all the logos you could have tattooed on your skin, the lambda is one of the best, because it doesn't LOOK like a logo so much. It's a Greek letter. That's kinda cool.

Just beware of being mistaken for a fraternity guy.

Well first of all, getting a HL tattoo would be the geekiest thing I've ever heard of. Second of all, tattoos are just plain disgusting, especially like 20 years down the road when they are sagging off your body! Also, getting hepatitis for 100 dollars would be fun.

Hepatitis from dirty equipment wouldn't be fun.

Suing the guy for everything he has because of negligence would be.

Edit: The fun-factor of Hepatitis from Pamela Anderson is debatable, however.

Main page has some mild nudity and some weird body mods so if you're squeamish/under 13/have parents that are over protective and can find out where I live just goto the link above, or don't go at all. I don't want your parents kicking my ****.

You can only look at 150pics/category before registering as well but 150 is more than enough.

If you decide to go ahead theres plenty of people on here, myself included, with tattoos so feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Ive always thought the Hitman: Codename 47 (or any hitman game logo) was great for a tattoo.

Only I would have to live with the fact that when ever someone asked me what it was, unless I lie Id be like,

"err, its from a computer game"

• CMEastCMEast Join Date: 2002-05-19 Member: 632Members
I don't care that the Lambda symbol is also an obscure homosexual symbol. I'm very comfortable with my own sexuality (just wanna say straight before I start getting mobbed in irc by imbeciles) and mine would be the HL symbol. Simple as. Nice page Necrotic, I love the idea of an M.C.Escher piece... I'd love some of his stuff as a tattoo!

Thanks for the Design Version91x, I like the circle around it. I could imagine that in just black without having to worry about colours... I just have to see if there is anything else I like.

I also really liked the tattoo's in hexadecimal though I wouldn't do it for myself.

Finally, for those who don't like tattoo's, please stop. I understand perfectly why you don't like them, each to their own and all but I won't make you get one as long as you don't try and stop me getting one. Simple as that. It will be on my shoulder blade, it wont affect work unless I walk around topless, I'm proud of my geeky heritage and am happy to tell the world I play games. The vast majority of girls don't care what you like. They expect you to like something in an obsessive way that they don't care about, whether its a sport, cars, military stuff, random gadgets or computer games. Its an important part of the way we think, we become obsessive about things in a way that the average girl doesn't. Females are totally grounded and rarely lose track of reality... or at least they don't lose track of important things like people and general life and stuff. Men do, thats why there are so many men who are top of their fields, because they throw away their social lives, they devote their soul's to their hobby. I know this is generalising as plenty of girls can obsess and lots of men dont but on average thats how it goes.

Anyway, I'll end that little rant before this whole thread goes off-topic.

Well said CMEast, glad to see it doesn't affect your judgement.

I'd say be very careful and take your time about it. Weigh it up against the fact you will have to see this forever. I have a friend with a transformers tattoo, now I love G1 TF more than him, by a long way, but I understand that I might have to explain it to my future (hopefully, of course ) wife one day, and do I really want to have to go through that?

Or how about your son or daughter? Imagine one of your own parents with something similar, see how you'd feel. Maybe you wouldn't care, maybe you would. But it should be considered from as many potential angles as possible before commiting to something.

You're right Shockwave but I can't ever imagine not being proud of my love of computer games. I very much doubt the world will be taken over by Luddite's who hunt down anything related to computers.

Besides which, I'm pretty sure that in 10-20 years medical techniques will have improved enough to remove tattoos with less of a scar or none at all (not that I can see myself having it removed).

I know that it won't look the same when I'm old but when I'm old I'm hardly gonna be a model anyway, looks just don't matter (especially not something you can cover up).

Its not getting a tattoo I'm worried about, the only thing that perturbs me is that it's so permanent that it would be really harsh if the tattoo just didn't look like it was supposed to... I guess it's just a lack of trust I have. I have a friend who designed a beautiful tattoo, would have looked incredible... would have. Unfortunately she went to a slightly less reputable tattoo parlour and they ruined the proportions... it still looks ok but its not the same.

Now I would only use a really good tattooist to do it (don't care about the money) but it still worries me. For instance, I want the circle round the outside but it's not exactly easy to draw a circle free hand, especially on an uneven surface. It might end up looking a bit... wrong.

Hmmm... in that case, I'd suggest avoiding geometric shapes. The fact it's on skin, drawn by a human will ALWAYS mean there's at least a little distortion, and don't forget all tattoo's will change over time as your skin dimensions change.

Personally, if you're set on it, I'd avoid the circle, and go for something else. Hell, I'd avoid the Lambda just because people are ALWAYS going to ask "Why have you got a H on your back?"

There are better gaming symbols, to be perfectly honest.

The designs are traced and then pressed onto your skin to give the artist an exact outline to go with, and remember these people make a living out of having a steady hand, if you're worried about an artist not being able to draw a simple circle...don't be. Look at some of the amazingly complex pieces of work people get done...a smidge harder than geometric shapes.

Also if you look at that page I linked at all the binary tattoos they're made up of 0's which are circles basically

If you don't like a circle, change it to a bolt.

You know, the kind you put on screws.

You know, I think the quake 3 logo or the triforce would be so much neater.

Half-life logo is just... not so neat.

Half-Life is not such a good game anyway, it's the mods that make the game.

Yeah but none of the other game logo's represent a game that I devoted a large proportion of my life too.

Well I think I've got enough to think about now... don't need anymore advice.
