First Day Of Coh Pre-order Head Start!

<div class="IPBDescription">I just played for 8 hours straight :O</div>COH continues to pwn. I've made my character on Victory, as that is the agreed upon server for NS community peeps who wanted to play together (see other thread). And now, in a manner of only 8 hours I'm already up to level 7. :o My other character I played for 2 weeks and only got to 9 heh.

Another remarkable thing, I haven't died *AT ALL* yet. Not one time. hooray.

Also there's a freaking *TON* of people playing right now. Much more than I thought there would be.

Did anybody else here pre-order?

Has the Super-Group been established yet?

I've been working on the GF and she seems ok with me spending some time on this game. Best Buy put it on sale for $40 this week. Looks like I'll be in by this weekend. /me sighs, and then lumbers off to Best Buy to drop 70 bucks on CoH.

Is there a free 30 day period for buying the game, or do I need to buy a subscription card right off the bat? And that subscription card is 30 bucks, does it cover 2 months?

man this game looks cool for a MMORPG, (mainly because of the character design is so open ended), but i hate MMORPG's mostly, and i hate the idea of paying 144 dollars a year for a video game.

I pre-ordered, but too late, and I didn't get the head start. Plus I'm hard at work implementing a hybrid synchronous/asynchronous sequential issue out of order execution and retirement with option of simultaneous retirement processor that I designed. I hate VHDL, or at least I hate XILINX, it's mis-synthesizing stuff and that makes me mad. But we're close, so close. It looks like memory operations are working, it seems that the ALU execution stage is working except for the done signal, and perhaps status bits, but that could be screwed up by the done signal. If we're lucky the branches will become reliable once the ALU stage is working. Then it's just a quick fix around a problem with a deficiency of the chip's on board block ram and the thing should be working without a hitch.

But yeah, I want to play COH. Doom, will you sidekick me and make me level quickly?

Also, what server is it really then? Victory or Guardian?

Negative, our server is Victory. We all voted, Victory won. So if you're gonna be playing with us, you need to be on Victory. :P

It's not often you play an MMO and go 'holy heck I've never seen that before', but CoH managed it beautifully last night. Me, Grimm and Reds were in a tower block fighting nazis and we came to this hall with a group of 5th column Nachts. At first we thought nothing of it, the group was no bigger than the usual ones, but once we started fighting it all changed; around the top of the has a balcony on the other floor and once we initiated combat an absolute ton of even more Nacht's who were up there took notice and started jumping down. It was insane, we ended up taking on about 12-20 at once though it felt like a heckload more; it was just so unexpected to suddenly have all these reinforcements leaping down on us lol.

AFAIK sidekicking doesn't make you level any quicker.

For example if you were level 5 and sidekicked to a level 17 character, and you defeated a level 16 baddie, you'd earn XP for defeating a level 4 baddie.

I never sidekicked in beta but I think thats how it works.

I'm planning to pre-order soon as I have 40 dollars.. price at best buy.

Though I was starting to think that maybe the game wont run on my machine, so I went to newegg and selected a 2800 dollar machine, Obviously will never have the money for that...

Truthfully.. would it run on a:

2.4 GHz Pentium 4
GeForce 3 Ti 200 (Hey, This card seems to have been good for all the games I played, so I kept it )
512 RD ram
Sound Blaster Live! Value

Sad thing is, I got a 40 gig HD, and I am starving for space on it, constantly deleting stuff everyday to make room for others.
