<div class="IPBDescription">It's real!</div> I've got to say, I really enjoyed playing Marine Vs Marine mod. Though knowing who is on your team is a bit confusing at times and I would recommend not having FF ON.

So, could THIS be the next secret system they have been talking about??

    I've not tried this myself but I think MvM is only restricted to certain maps. There are a few threads in the mapping forum about it. I'm pretty certain it's not the unanncounced system.

    Ditto. A system that would change the way we play Natural-selection implies that it's a change to existing gameplay, not a whole new format.

    Speaking of FF, maybe you should try getting them to use the Communist Marine skins for team2 if possible. It's a bright-red colored TSA marine... I think NSArmsLab or Thrill2Kill have them.

    Seems to me like MvM just makes it a less glorified CS.. bah. Is there AvA? That's what makes NS an original mod, Aliens.

    AvA or MvM would really suck... no fun at all playing game like this...
    NS was made to be played AvM and nothing else...


    just imagine marines shooting CC of other marines... yakkkkk...
    or seige... totaly sucky...
    the only advantege u can have on your enemy is by having more RT(not campturing move hives)\

    Well the MvM is only combat mode and it's not that bad. Though from my playing it looks like mine are worthless and the JP/Shotgun rules.

    Oh and if you're looking for a fast game like regular CO, it might not happen. I've seen a map drag on for a long time.

    But hey, I say it's good to see mods even though they are not supported. It expands on NS and that's good in my books.

    No, one of the devs (i think it was cagey?) said that MvM is offically unsported in its current state.

    In the original notes of NS, MvM and AvA were supposed to be optional gameplay methods.

    I think the MvM and AvA should become availlable in Classic only. Buildings and team based action is the core of NS, MvMCombat would be just another 1st person shooter-mod, with marines.

    Besides, 6 different playing modes would divide the player base too much. If you are a hardcore MvA classic player and you have now 6 servers you like to use, with Classic and combat both having MvM, MvA and AvA, you would have 1 server left. If NS would be played by a lot more people(CS scale), it would be possible. Currently when we have only so many servers, there's no room for 6 different game modes. Barely for 4.

    I think Combat should stay as MvA and Classic could have to option as MvM and MvA, because Commander vs. Commander action(especially in organised play) is just too delicious to miss <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Well the screen captures look like a whole bunch of marines as both teams look the same. You can't tell them apart.

    Not sure how well it will work on Classic NS. IT works well in CO right now... But you might be right. Having 6 diff types of NS could get confusing.

    If you're planning on playing this mod look for a map called silly_v3.co (or something like that)

    MvM is awesome for a bunch of the maps go to the mapping forum under the Marine vs Marine title and NO absolutely NO, MvM is NOT going to be the big system coming up.

    Actually, with the new spawn system, MvM games are rather short, shorter on average than AvM games. And the SG doesn't rule, the LMG/HMG does, and JP just makes you a skeet more than anything else. HA is a real problem to down, not to mention that grenade spam is teh winzorz! Alloy and Morehuman are the only MvM maps now that would be even remotely even since it's not a wide open area, and there's plenty of cover. THe assault and office maps (on NSArmslab server) are unbalanced as that a marine can get a JP and level 2 weapons (with just an LMG) and pretty much dominate the map. Especially with the spawn system. But with NS MvM, team play is more present. People will cover you while you reload, take a comrade's spot when he goes down and support one another. Too bad I can't say the same in AvM games... As for AvA, that would be interesting to say the least, even though the thought of super lerks and super devouring onos isn't too appealing...

    MvM sounds like it sucks over here, it seems as if its just CS, where your forced to do your objective, ****!
    i myself would like to try AvA, seeing an onos devour a skulk, would be funny, AvA seems intresting.

    Whenever I play MvM, I think of CS on crack...but it's still fun, though it gets repetitive a hellza lot faster than either Classic or Combat.

    AvA would probably be THE funniest game mode. I can't even imagine how it would be to see 5 skulks running around trying to kill another 5 skulks... ROFL

    Not interested in MvM, played the "mod" briefly and the weapons are much too boring for it to be interesting for very long at all. Just a brief diversion when you're tired of alien targets. MvM is just CS with simpler aiming and less variety.

    AvA, on the otherhand, could be extremely interesting though much harder to work out balance-wise. No matter which way you look at it, Aliens are what make NS truly unique, and AvA certainly isn't going to be stale. I think it would take significant alterations of the entire balance for either MvM or AvA to work out, but in the case of AvA it would definitely be worth it if we could find a way to make it work.

    To be honest, I'd rather play MvM than reg CO. It's more fun. It's almost pointless to play marine in CO, I think I've seen then win once in 20 games or something.

    Hope beta 4 comes out soon.

    more on topic, yeah i'd love massive skulk-fight, but if you thought distinguishing between friendly and enemy <u>rines</u> was hard...every AvA server would need automatic glow settings or something.

    AvA would be incredibly boring. Aliens have lots of HP, but do little damage overall; marine have little HP, but do tons of damage overall. This system is balanced for normal play and works reasonably well for MvM (although I find it bland and repetitive), but it would be absolutely terrible with AvA. The idea of Fades and Onii battling each other may sound cool, but it would simply take too long for any alien to kill another alien. I'm also willing to bet that certain attacks, such as devour, wouldn't work at all.

    NS Armslab(NSA) was the first to come out with rine vs rine...they converted cs_assault to NS and made another version with rine v rine...then everyone else decided to be posers...

    Narfwak, rebalancing damage numbers is the least we could do to balance either of the game modes.

    Actually, the first person to come up with MvM was MrBill. He posted instructions on how to do MvM maps in the mapping forum, and everyone else followed suit. NSArmslab is just as much a "poser" as anyone else, which is to say none.

    I played it the other night. Didn't realize it was MvM until about 15 seconds into the game when another 'rine came around the corner and laid me out. It reminded me of TFC...nothing but senseless shooting and grenade spam.

    Last I knew AvA wasn't played because servers crash whenever a hive is killed.     its not that easy and wouldnt be that fun. for instance seiges vs seiges? who wins? turret farms can keep anything without a gl out, electricity is generally useless, new maps with 2 marine spawns.

    if they figure out how to fix all this it would be fun, however an early beta of this would not.
