A Reply-To-Remember
I'm not sure if this topic has been introduced before, but if it is, it's probably back there in the rear somewhere. If the topic does well I'll post my greatest moments. If it's been done and is still going, please let me know and we can close this and post at that one.
So, what is your Natural Selection greatest moment?

I was playing on a server I frequented and later on which I would become a clan member. For no less than four rounds a group of clanners had stacked one side or the other against a team of relative noobs. After observing this for round after round, I called upstairs to my two roomates who also played NS, and asked them to join the server so we could try our hand at this quote unquote "l33t clan."
So the teams stay relatively the same; my friends and I went marines under generic nicks (we weren't a clan at that point), and I think we got one new player in addition to the disorganized mass of players who kept getting owned.
Right off the bat, we hear over voicechat, "OK guys, I'm gonna be co---" at which point I said, "No, you're not. I'm running this show, and if you all do exactly what I say we WILL win and we WILL utterly annihilate those team-stacking ****, OK?" He shut up. My two friends chimed in with, "...Sir!" And that was all it took.
Right off the bat, I dropped in the hot-seat and told my team where the initial spawn-rush was coming from. We killed every alien without a loss, something that hadn't even come CLOSE to happening for four previous games. Many cries of, "WTH?!?" were heard from the aliens. Dropped spawns, armory, arms lab, got weapon 1 going... then split up the team into two 3-man teams and 1 baseguard.
To make a long, drawn-out story short, I didn't stop talking as the comm. I let the team know exactly what was coming for them, where it would be, gave each person orders - and I didn't give them time to tell me anything otherwise unless I asked them directly. Well, we completely overran the map. The aliens were in total disarray since they couldn't seem to get used to the marines being organized. Everything *worked* for a change... even my "suicide team" of hive-harassers managed to obliterate and take over a hive, with only 1 loss.
The best moment was when I gave my original baseguard, who had stayed and followed orders all game, his HA/HMG and started him at the head of the HA train to kill the aliens once and for all. The whole team was decked out, (including myself, just in case. ha ha I loved being the Terminator comm) and we just laughed at every cry of "OMG" or "WTH"... or even the "OMGWTH"s hehe.
End kill/death score for my team? 92/8. For a 40 minute game. Booyah!
As for my special events, which happened over the course of 3 hours...
We had been split up into Squad 5, with about 4 members in Squad 5. We played out our hand accordingly, but there was one problem: I forgot to arm myself for the beginning of the level. So, here I have one loaded magazine in my assault rifle, and one extra, with the standard 20 pistol bullets, one mag loaded, the other spared. We reached a resource fountain and imediately constructed a refinery on the top. The team leader, obviously going to by :3am:Syrus (whom I hold a high amount of respect for) orderd 4 squadmates to attack the ventilation systems, and one to stay behind. I stayed behind, with only an extra magazine for each weapon. I imediately called for "I need ammo" and he responded with:
"Ok Recoup, let me get things started and I'll see what I can do"
So, I stayed my position for about 30 seconds before I got 2 aliens running in to attack the resource tower, with the two believing it was undefended. I jumped on both of them with an entire magazine of the assault rifle layed on the first alien, now dead, and the rest put on the second on. I reloaded, with that damn thing chasing me, and then finished it off with about 23 more bullets. I was stuck with that much ammo. One more alien made a blind rush inside and I got a few shots off but didnt kill it. I grabbed my pistol and capped his **** while frantically jumping and moving from the sides. Syrus dropped some ammo for me, but it was for the pistol. I used up my remaining ammo on the creature, and then when he was dead and I was barely scathed, he respawned and said:
"Damn Recoup, you're hard to hit!"
I replied with a thank you, and then continued my incursion of defense. The next alien came, possibly the same guy, and I wasted the rest of my rounds trying to hit him. I ran out of ammo, but killed the beast none the less. I then shouted on the comm:
"KNIFE!!!"
With that, my knife was out and I was going toe to toe with alien scumbags. Another, this time a possibly upgraded alien with Clarity(1) attacked quickly. I slashed and got some hits, but to no avail. He brought me down within the 5 seconds we danced. I then told Syrus:
"I died, but I stayed my post."
I was then rewarded with a shotgun to continue my expedition into hell. We won that round.
ahh picking just one greatest moment is impossible, but i have to say one of the most fun games i've ever played was waaaaay back, i don't know what version, but it was probably the only hour-and-a-half+ game i've ever played. Those epic games as a rine grunt are just so unbelievably fun. Rather than lack of skill i think they signal perfect balancing, but whatever. I obviously can't remember the exact details of the entire game (actually I don't even remember the map name ), but I do remember at least 2 relocations to different hives before our heavy train managed to smash through 2 hives without stopping. Good times, good times.
Yeah that was a little vague...
The best moment in a recent game has got to be on a combat map (yeah that sux right there doesn't it). Level 4 skulk w/ xeno and sof. 11 v 11 game. One leap into a group of of armory humping rines. Needless to say, that was the fastest flurry of "OMG", "WTH", "rofl nice!" and "Xeno is overpowered!!!111" messages I've ever heard.
[edit] ooh recoup you should write fan-fiction btw in another forum you were talking about that Syrus guy, who is he exactly? [/edit]
As for the guy Syrus, I met up with him on a very good, 24 player server, and he was the greatest commander I have ever seen. His screen name is ":3am:Syrus", without the quotations, and he will help you if you do what he tells you to do. Go to that checkpoint marine. You go there. Stay here soldier. You stay. Advance to that position. You advance. Dont follow him, return to base and rearm. You run your **** out of there and rearm. If you do, he will supply you with the weapons and armor you need to go kick more alien ****. Just like that game Mafia, where Tommy says:
"People knew that if they needed something, they could come to Mr Saliari. He did favors, and so he expected them in return. As long as people did what they were told, they could benifit. But when people crossed him, they broke a cardial rule..."
EDIT: BTW, I think you are on to something with that fan fiction. Anyone got any ideas for good stories to be told?
but NOBODY beats Pinky.
All seven of us were positioned in a room that was connected by 2 hallways, with an air duct on the top right corner. One heavy marine crouched down, and another jumped on top of him, trying to stair step their way to the ventalation shaft. I dont know how, but they managed to get up there, but were still trying to get 2 or 3 more people up there. But we hear this noise.
An Onos runs in at full speed through the forward hallway, and all of the marines who were stacked up just yell out loud into the microphone:
"OH ****!"
After that, they scramble and desperately try and hit the Onos. We killed it, but with 2 losses. I ran out of ammo for my assault rifle so I was using my pistol the whole time. I sure looked cool!
One quiet night on ns_eclipse...
The aliens had not only gotten the 2nd hive up (for you "newer players" with the second hive the aliens got access to the fade and basically won the game), but had also gotten the third hive up. Just as the first onos arrived the heavy armour research finished and the commander with 200+ res dropped ha, welder, hmg for everyone (about 6-8 of us).
Our marine force stormed out of marine start moved "quickly" (again for you newbies the HA used to move a lot slower) to maintance, killing skulks, fades, oni and more on the way, took out the first hive, got RT and phase up and running, then went right to south loop where a mini base was established just incase, about 3 of us died in the assault on computer core but were all quickly kitted up for the final assault on eclipse command, splitting up to take the aliens from either side we rushed in mopping the few remaining dregs of the alien scum which had invaded the base.
Great comebacks are what I miss the most
One of my short but hillarious moments was during a Combat Match, and one of the marines had huddled into a dark corner so you could BARELY see him. I saw him and ducked in the same corner, and all of a sudden he yells with voice communication
"Dont f***ing hide here!"
And then we are stormed by Fades. However, we won that match when I got my grips on a HMG.
Like my team was getting their but beat and I went fade. I ended up with 42 kills and 4 deaths making up 3/4 of my team kills in 10v10, but my team still lost b/c they sucked hard. I killed 3 HA/HMGs and sever light armros with hmgs or gls. That made up about 1/2 my kills. Also, I killed the pg 3 times to our hive. Then the entrance/exits got spammed with tfs(not build like cc blocking) with multiple HA/HMGs behind them. Then they finally killd me.
Damn I'm good(insert smily face with shades)
Anyone else got some good stories to tell?
As a last ditch effort, I empty my clip at him, and kill him, not a second before trigger-hurt claims my life.
That was a good day.
EDIT: Go to Here for smilie goodness, BTW.
And what more an onos were attacking 3 of us marines i empy my mag into the onos and the drew up my welder, and suddenly the server started to lagg temporarly giving me a enormus RoF killing the onos that said he still had half his hp and armor left (v2.1) when it started to lagg.
Any more contributers, please!
Also putting cc under lift in Hera, and bringing the lift up and down as comm squashing all my alien clan mates who tried to chomp at it, including about 5-6 onos. Teach them stackers a lesson.
but we had about to get win then the aliens turned it around and then commander got mad and left but we cleared the engine room hive somehow and held fort there... morale was low but i hopped into commander seat (a hang loose first) and then told them ... guys the game is in the bag (but it really wasn't but as suntzu told morale is important in art of suntzu and war) so I kept on telling them game is in bag even though fades were taking us right and left and we only had that one rez node... suddenly morale boost was work and then the game really was in the bag and like an hour later we turned it around and was about to assault last hive and then server crash... the game was in the bag but then server crash... gg
