Anyone willing to dedicate some time to volunteer helping out new players in the world of NS ?

I am a bit curious, what is it all about and how does it go about?? do the registered NS Guides members post guides to the email address stated there ?? and ...the guide archive page is missing.. 404 error

Back in the day, NSGuides were indeed people that helped new players out, explained how to command, gorge, etc. What sieges were for, basic stuff like that. They had a purple HA symbol to represent them on scoreboards and with the release of 1.0, seeing an NSGuide basically meant you had someone on your team that knew what he was doing.

The program slowly faded out, and now server ops use the icons..but the fire is being rekindled.

    Ehehehe....

as for why they were removed back then.....it's because they recruited some of the wrong people....

But yeah, it would be nice to see the NSGuides program start again. Just give them a trial then if he passes he can be an NSGuide. Don't want to repeat the same mistake as the older ones did.

EDIT : And by trial, I dod not mean written trial. Those would be too easy to fake. If anyone wants details, PM me about it.

I think the ns guide system is flawed in the fact that if a newbie asks for help most people will be quite happy to help them out, we allready have such places as the new players forum and jojo (sorry if i got ya name wrong) helps out by hosting games and teaching them.

1 of the advantages i do see is if game servers are run just for newbies, with guides present to help them understand the game.

I have seen many times when a "newb" ask for help...Many ppl will tell them ways to crash their comp.

the guide program is a very good idea...

the people who are running it are all well known in the NS community and are well respected for their playing ability and their attitude - there is no reason to assume that they will recruit idiots

I just saw it, I have been an avid player since a long time (can't even remember the numbers) used a lot of names lately but just came back with my original name ... I subscribed to the Guide and I am more then ready to help peoples:). If it takes a test to be chosen, then so be it .

Sorry about that. For some reason my school requires the www. before it...
http://www.bownet.org/njohnson/ is the correct link. I will post the finished URL in a new thread. I probably won't finish it for a month or two due to school and other things.
