Crosshair

<div class="IPBDescription">Can I change the color of the crosshair?</div> Ya thats my problem, I know it worked in cs, so I wonder whether it works as well in ns, but adjust_crosshair doesn't exist in ns.
So I really like to get my crosshair green, because sometimes in dark rooms for instant I dont see where my crosshair is.

Thanks for help.

    You cannot without installing custom crosshairs.. I just use default ones.. I think when you install custom crosshairs you will have crosshairs on every weapon. =\ HAX!!! lol

    the crosshair files are in the sprites folder i think.. have a look in there and get a sprite editor

    yeah, in the sprites folder there are weapon_*.txt files and then .spr files

    the weapon_ tells NS which sprite to use

    try www.bullseyecrosshairs.com if you find one you like it'll probably have a txt file like weapon_m4.txt or something, just change that to the weapon you want (weapon_machinegun for LMG weapon_pistol for pistol, etc)

    You'll have to use SprViewer, something that can edit an image's palette, and SprWiz, if you want to change the color of a crosshair.

    Use sprviewer to extract the .bmp from mg.spr

    edit the palette's blue color (should be last, first, or second to last in the palette.. forget which) to whatever color you want, save the new .bmp

    Use SprWiz to turn the .bmp in to a crosshair. I believe you have to use either grayscale, or additive... I forget. Just try all 4 =P

    Replace the old mg.spr with the new one you just made. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Okay thanks for your replies so far. I just have a problem, I don't know which program I should use to change the color? Would ps do it? I didn't download it yet, so just tell me which prog works fine for this kind of problem.

    I downloaded the Sprviewer and Sprwizard and understand how to do it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Extract the sprite, then you need to look at the last color index.

    The last index is the colour of the sprite and the other are just grey scale transparency values. So, find a colour you like then change the last colour index to that colour, can be done with wally, photoshop and lots of other programs, then use a program like sprwiz to put it back into a sprite again. The sprite type needs to be index alpha.

    Here's how I did it with Photoshop CS:

    I got the xhairmg.bmp from SprView, then opened it with photoshop

    Image -> mode -> color table
    Alter the last thing to what color you want
    File->Save as...

    And that's about it =P
