Has anyone else beaten this game that fast before?
I remember, the first time I played the game it took me like 5 or 6 hours to get out of Midgar (in fact, the very first time I played, I stopped playing, because I couldn't get past when the upper plate fell - it wouldn't let me out of one of the little pits outside the slum village (there's a board you have to walk on).
Then I played it again, I was done in about 40 minutes. The first disc only took about 5 hours or so (disc 2 can be really short if you just try to beat the game quick). I've forgotten pretty much all of the weird puzzle things now, though, so now I could probably get out of the Shinra building quick, but it'd take me a bit to remember where exactly to go.
Plus, the magic sucks until you get to...that one city outside Midgar (Kolm?...I forget, you can buy new materia there). Especially E-skill, if you can survive the Midgar Zolom (Beta, within first 3 hours > anything else around ). Hard to kill it around those low levels though.
My cousin didn't get how to use chocobos, so he had to get past the part by fighting the Zolom 3 or 4 times, heh.
Hah that reminds me a long time ago Gecko. I ran across the marshes and actually made it to the other side. I call it luck since the Midgar Zolom was like a millimeter away just when I hit the grassy past near the mountain.
Funny I havent touched the game seriously in a few months now. Now when I mean havent touched it, its been like a yr since I have played more than an hr of the game. Yet I still remember everything, I find it odd. So when I know that boss is around the corner im like. "Level 15 hmm okay time to jump atleast 10 more"

Never got passed the temple of babel. Jumping puzzles in RPG = get out of my Playstation.
It was kindof fun before that, but after falling really far in the tower Xenogears gets the X. Final Fantasy 7 or maybe Breath of Fire 3 (although, the end of that is extremely tedious, and I haven't gotten around to beating it past Myria Station) still win for me.
FFT is good too (never got around to that one either, because the computer gets to be cheap...and I can't just throw my army of 20 people into the fray . Still don't really consider it an RPG.

No, Dungeons and Dragons is!
I dont get how people think FF7/8/10's main character is badass. I mean, Terra (FF6) is a sword-wielding, magic-mech driving, 1/2 esper (magical creature) chick. Think about it...its like 3 layers of kickass!
I might be old fashion, but the CT-SoM-FF6 combo on SNES is Squaresoft's greatest achievement.

But her hair is green.
...GREEN!
Really, it is ugly hair. Why not purple? Or orange, or even blue?
Green hair? Bah. Sephiroth has the cool white/silver hair, that's why he wins. Although, she does get Ultima, and you never see Sephiroth (Solar Flare...heh )cast it, although Cloud - aside from being weak and complains a lot - casts it, so he's cool too.
Garr from Breath of Fire 3 wins the cool character contest...He's a giant...horned...lizard thing - with fire! You just can't beat that.
Now is that cool or what?

Its actually blonde in the concept arts/CGI. Also, when she morphs, she turns ALL white/silvery....and nekkid!
Best (any) char in the whole series has got to be gogo. Good battle in FF5, master of all trades in FF6, (someone vouch for me for FF9), and general WTH-ness wins him the crown.

Listen to this man! I could not agree more. About the Deus Ex thing, I'm tied between Crono Trigger and FF VII. :]

What the hell? DX is way more "pure" than CT. No matter what your definition of an rpg is (except maybe "number crunching level treadmill"). I'm not saying that CT is a bad game or anything, but in addition to being a better game, DX is more rpg than CT could ever hope to be.
