Do you have a flat panel monitor? With a 60 refresh rate, I bet ya do. They have a limit of 60 frames per second. Due to fuzziness that happens when your fps goes higher than that, they have a sort of regulator that keeps the fps at or around 60 for a max.

It sucks, I know. Have one myself. But I have seen them run without the regulator, and its like a shroom trip - it really is necessary.

I posted this a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure how many people read it, but I want to make sure at least the majority of the general populace realize this...:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Just a little note here, because some people might not know about VSync and its effects:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->If you disable Vsync then your graphics card will continuously render without waiting for the last frame to be displayed in its entirety. With fast graphics cards this means that your monitor may switch to a new frame halfway down the screen. This effect is known as tearing as there appears to be a visible line separating two different halves. Due to this, you should generally leave Vsync enabled except when benchmarking.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It'll limit it to your monitor refresh rate, but can you honestly say there's a visible difference between 60fps and 120fps?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
