General!
Ok for starts hardware having a good pc and good equipment does help, having your pc in 640x400 resolution probly wont help you very much.
Mouse and keyboard, having an optical mouse can help you greatly as it cannot get stuck and is always smooth, even better get a opticla mouse pad 2, you can go for wireless but if the batteries go your a bit screwed.
Layout, having your keys assigned to a certain layout can be a great help, for example i always use the w,a,s,d layout as you can access far more keys than the arrow ones, i also change crouch to c as its easier to press, and walk to alt and talk to shift.
Also a headset is very helpful having to stop and type is not very good as it leaves you open get a headset and itll help you a lot.
Marine
Ok marine tips,
Listen, a key emelmant of being a marine is to listen hearing the aliens, beign able to hear them in vents etc does help.
Work in teams especially when you just start, follow a person around see how they move and it will also help to learn the maps, also knowing the maps is a great help knowing all vent locations etc help.
Obay the comm they usually know what they are talking about.
Dont spray or your gonna pay, try to fire the lmg in bursts so that if u miss you have some ammo left.
Reload mid clip, dont walk around with 10 bullets in your lmg if u run into an alien ur chance of surviving is low.
Alien tips.
Remember skulks are not really an attack alien they are steal and sneaky ones, use vents and drop from above or behind the enemy.
When gorging be quiet, and work with another gorg that way you can heal each other.
Try not to res **** unless you are a good fade or onos, there is nothing worse than having some1 fade and they die instantly without any kills and its likey the team will blame you.
Get dc first unless you ask and they say its ok to get dc otherwise if u loose they will blame you.
all i can think of right now hope this helped <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Comments
-Try explaining what dc's and rt's and what that stuff means, a newb/n00b doesn't know what that means
-Get rid of some typo's
You kinda forgot 1 point --> only use Light Machine Gun at close range, pistol is best for long range shooting.
Some comms are stupid. One comm I had dropped armory, resource towers, and turret factories, but no infantry portal!!!
Define headset --> from my knowledge, some headsets don't even have microphone attached.
Here is something a little more helpful;
Do not enter the alien team until you are quite comfortable in the marine team.
When in the marine team, learn to use the 'in game' voice commands to communicate with the commander and your fellow soldiers.
Listening to an aliens movments CAN help, but don't put all your concentration into it, as some have silence mode/upgrade.
In your mini-map, you can see the layout of the map, and structures that your team controls. If there is a flashing structure, that means it is being attacked, and it may be a good idea to take some initiative and rescue "said" structure from destruction.
A common problem with the Alien side is the lack of <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" /> in the battle-front.. If you are new to the alien side. stick to the evoutions; ::skulk & ::gorge
Stay as close as possible to higher life forms.
And in the case of playing as <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" /> you should build offece chambers near resource chambers, and put upgrade chambers of the same sort in different areas of the map.
grouping movement chambers at the bottom of the 1st hive will almost ALWAYS = *fail*
This is a very fun game, as long as you have the ability to think for yourself and play as a (and with the) TEAM. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tsa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::tsa::" border="0" alt="tsa.gif" />
