General E3 Discussion Thread

<div class="IPBDescription">lets keep it in one place</div>I figured I'd start a thread for general E3 discussion so we don't have 40 pop up at once. This is for general discussion of the event, not geared towards any one game in particular.

Up until a week ago I wasn't too excited as last year's E3, with the exception of HL2 of course, was rather ho-hum. The only exciting thing about it besides HL2 was the Metal Gear Solid 3 trailer.

This year's E3 hasn't even started yet and its already off to a great start. New HL2 info coming out, the new Zelda shots and trailer, the HL2 shots and movies.. It looks like 2004 and 2005 will be great for gaming. :)

I hope to see a new MGS3 trailer, as those are always super super sexy. Hopefully there will be some stuff about GTA: San Andreas as well. Also I can't wait to find out what the STALKER devs are planning on unveiling. :)

What all are you guys looking forward to?

There's a rumor now? Don't get me wrong, I'd love Starcraft 2 more than possibly anything else in the world, but I havn't heard anything about it. Got a source?

Any press? Doesn't it have to be a gaming-related publication?

Unfortunetly, I'm not obsessed with E3 enough to warrant plotting my future career just so I can attend.

If I remember correctly, basicaly any news organisation can go if they want. (I don't know if a press badge is an auto in or what though...)

I know a few people who have gotten in b/c their friend worked in one of the industries and just had their company give them some passes <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

When i first signed up for the internet (using AOL back in about '96-'97) i had to think of a screen-name, and it's sort of stuck since.

Minus the standards, I think F.E.A.R. looks pretty slick. I've loved Monolith's previous games (NOLF 1 & 2 being 2 of the best games I've ever played). A fine looking engine, and they have good plots.

according to that shcknews post, if counter strike IS the multiplayer HL2, then what do we have to play online, im not resorting to CS unless i find a good server with good players, otherwise im sticking with NS on the regular HL engine

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->We have also gotten some footage of Counter-Strike running on the Source engine that will be available on FileShack later this evening.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    that seems interesting

I'm actually kind of worried about bringing Advance Wars to the GameCube. It seems like you can actually control your troops. The thing I liked best about Advance Wars was that you were the commander. You told your troops where to go and they went and fought for you. The challenge was in overpowering the enemy with better defensive positions and better offense, then gaining ground and obliterating everything in your path.

[EDIT:] Also, CS: Source is NOT HL2 MULTIPLAYER. They're both different games that are going to be made on the same engine, CS: Source is going to sell seperately over Steam and in a retail box ala CS: CZ.
