    No, but it sure helps you co-ordinate with your teammates. I reccomend that you do get one if you want to seriously play NS. Personally I reccomend some Altec Lansing AHS 502 headphone/mic set. It pwns.

    Mikes help with any fps game. They are never required equipment but communication is so much easier with mikes. Typeing is just too slow. But even if you can type like greased lightning, wouldn't you rather use your keyboard for dodgeing bullets instead of communication?

    Personally I bind what I need to say to keys. "Yes" "No" "Idiot" and "Res tower" are all you need to say. "n1" too I spose, but that can be typed in 5 buttons.

    You don't need a "Mike" (Mic) to play the game, it just makes it alot easier and better so you don't waste those valuable seconds typing out a message when you are needed elsewhere <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Agreed. The amount of times i have died while typing is enoumous. Use a mic.

    However you will still die when taunting the other team.

    A mic can be very important when you are the commander!
    In Clans (clanwars), a mic is one of the most important things to make the communication easier =)

    IMO, you'll need a mic only if you intend to command and play a bit less 'casually.'

    But it's just 50 bucks of a good-enough-mic, so why not buy it? One game costs as much...
