i have a problem in NS: when i play rine, i run slowlier than all the other rines (no, im not walking!!!) when i play as alien, i run slowlier and, as skulk, i bite slowlier than the others... can anyone tell me what the problem is???
When you play as marine, the other marines may be running against a wall which increases your speed, or they may be jumping in a particular way.
As alien it's possible that they are bunnyjumping or running against a wall. (Read more about bunnyjumping <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68116' target='_blank'>here</a>)
I doubt that you are biting slower unless you have focus.
Try resetting your config to defaults(not just binds, the whole thing). Just rename your config.cfg to something else and HL will rebuild a default one for you.
Do you still run slower than everyone else? OK then the problem is not your config and you can restore your old one.
THX for the tip.. ..but.. it didnt solve the problem.. my teammates run faster than me.. always.. as rine.. i am not able to follow a group of teammates.. no.. its not because they use a special technique to run (a friend of mine is ultra noob.. and he also runs faster than me).. ..i'll reinstall the game.. hope, that can solve it
I saw someone the other day who's animation looked like thay were running full speed but they were only going about 2/3 the speed they should have. I've seen this in CS and DoD as well and have heard that it is caused by setting developer 1 in your config, though I don't know whether this is true or not.
Try updating/reinstalling your graphics card drivers. Sure, it seems totally unrelated but they have and can cause really really weird bugs at times if they have managed to get corrupted somehow.
edit:... once, when AMD athlon processors where new people using said processors got the same effect as using a speed hack in HL until valve managed to fix the problem, you appear to have the very opposite problem. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I had that exact same problem a while back. The only way to fix it is to reinstall windows <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->. Its a pain but hey, gotta do what you gotta do.

Are all your teammates who go faster than you not loading up on ammo, and are you, conversely, filling up your lmg and pistol? Full ammo will slow you down ever so slightly.

Actually, the amount of ammo you're carrying has a significant effect on how fast you run as a Marine. Half-loading as compared to full-loading is a noticable change, and has saved many a Marine from being chomped.
for what its worth, I have found that I tend to run faster than everyone ever so slightly, and I use the my numpad to navigate(from quake and SOF), with numlock on(have to, otherwise button dont work). I dont know if this will fix it or not, and maybe its a problem with your keyboard? It might be sending the keystrokes delayed somehow, pulsed or something.... i dont know honestly how the I/O of keyboards work, but its an idea.

And certain aliens can go twice the speed of celerity if they perform a special technique. <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Btw, I think its funny to see this special technique, Not because its an exploit, but the actual sight of a lerk pancaking just makes me crack up.
Now on topic:
Sounds like a graphics card issue or something. Check your fps. Otherwise it might have something to do with your keyboard. Try reinstalling Steam Completely.
I would say it the graphics card...perhaps some graphic setting in HL.
Is this the same in other HL games? If so, try changing your graphics to software and see how it works. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is updating the drivers to the card...

Lol handgrens allow the same speed as knife 210 with all default ammo (ns_map defaults, co maps give you an extra clip).
Lol a rine without lmg or pistol while strafing against a wall is faster than default skulk speed if you have the right angle against the wall. Approx 315-20, while default skulk speed is 290.
Carrying a welder with all defaults slows you down to 201 with either lmg, pistol or welder out. Knife out is 203.
HAha carrying 4 mines you go at same speed as with welder.
BUT carrying 3 mines lmg stays at 201, pistol gets 203, mines gets 203 and knife gets 203.
How can his problem be graphics? He isnt getting dodgey fps, he is actually slower. Well according to the previous threads my guess is that you are an armoury humper. This means b4 you leave base you always have full ammo of lmg/pistol and thus you are slower than ur default team mates, either that or they all hack.
I was chasing a ha who had run out of ammo through a vent and his backspeed was the same as my default skulk forward speed!!!! By the time i got to him he had reloaded his hmg and killed me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I had this problem a while back, just after I updated to Windows XP. The cause of the problem turned out to be my ancient keyboard - for some reason it wasn't fully compatible with XP. Buying a newer keyboard fixed the problem. Carrying 1 mine lmg gets 206, pistol 206, mines 208 and knife 208.
Having a jetpack while running on the ground slows you down. To about 194 with lmg, 197 with pistol and 199 with knife.
MUAHAHAHA if you carry default weaps and ammo and 4 mines and a welder all weaps and items go 194, except knife which is 196!!!!
OMG EAT THAT
