Recent Blatant Speedhackers

scooterbluescooterblue Join Date: 2003-05-20 Member: 16519Members
I've been seeing a lot of players blatantly speedhacking on servers without administrators playing lately. Speedhackers have the following two abilities: 1) the ability to run around the map at tremendous speeds, appearing as though they are teleporting around or lagging in and out; and 2) the ability to fire multiple times in almost immediate succession. I've seen gorges firing four spits within half a second, and the same thing with acid rockets. A single speedhacking skulk take down a resnode in about 6 seconds by himself. Each bite sounds like CH-CH-CH-CH-CH-CHOMP.

The speedhackers that I've come across have tried to play off their hack as thought they just "lag a lot."

Anyway, if you're playing on a server without admin on it, watch out for speedhackers. They're pretty easy to spot. On most servers you can type amx_who in the console to see if there are any admins on.

How do you know if they are hackers or just bug exploiters? Bunnyhopping is a bug but people tolerate it, so anyone who thinks bunnyhopping is a "skill" shouldn't be whining about "speedhax0rs OMG kick em".

A speedhack is just that: a hack. It is a file you download and run, just like a aimbot or wallhack. This is not analagous to or have anything to do with bunnyhopping.

I'll say this on behalf of Nemesis Zero (sorry if you didn't want me to, just slap me later).

But please don't bring it here. Take it to the server owners and have them deal with it.

Pesonally myself I just sent an email to Gibgames to ban of course, a speedhacker. Lets keep these post to a minimum please, don't want the word to spread throughout the entire community.

Well as I posted before, how do you know it's a hack (external program)? Could be a simple variable change or exploit. People are too quick to shout "lol omg hax0r" nowadays.

I know exactly what Ricky means. I've played NS for a long time and while hacks can be easily spotted, bunnyhoppers are a diffirent story. Sometimes I even saw a server admin doing it! That's really wrong and especially when players justify their own cheating by saying: ITS AN OLD HL BUG LOL LIVE WITH IT!!

RoCkIn RiCkY : Shut up. I've seen how a speedhack works: It is an external file which the hacker downloads and runs, and it's often bundled with an aimbot/wallhack.

Paranoia-2MB : Shut up. Players need to be aware of how to spot and report hacks and exploits. This post has no information whatsoever that would help someone find or use a hack. What's more, this post does not concern any specific server or any specific player. It's intended to raise player awareness so they can identify and report speedhackers to server admins.

LOLLERCOASTER : Shut up. Bunnyhopping is accepted almost universally, even in clanmatches. I don't use a script, because I can bunnyhop just as proficiently without one, but I don't complain when others use one. At any rate, that's not the subject of the post.

    Paranoia-2MB : Shut up again.

Can I get an outside script from you so I can bunnyhop too? I'm sure my clanfriends will like it. By the way, bunnyhopping makes you go <u>faster</u> than you opponent the same way like an ordinary speedhack. Thus, it has the same use; unfair advantage.

As I said, I don't use a script to bunnyhop, because I can do the same thing without one. It just takes a little jump timing. And yeah, bunnyhopping makes you go faster than your opponents if your opponents aren't smart enough to bunnyhop, just as running makes you go faster your opponents if your opponents aren't smart enough to run. Since both bunnyhopping and running are built into the game and available to everybody equally, they are both fair and viable methods. This has nothing to do with the topic of this post though, so please drop it. I apologize for hypocritcally wandering off topic, but when people say unintelligent things in my threads I feel a moral obligation to correct them.

Well what you're saying sounds unintelligent to me. As soon as you accept bugs into the game, you say it's ok if I use a bug in the game which makes me see through walls if one existed. Then you say I'm not smart enough to know the command so it's not your problem.

Oh no, it took me 3 seconds to google both of those!
Honestly, if you actually want to learn how to bhop, with or without scripts, all you have to do is google it. It's not some dark terrible secret found only on sites with porn popups.

As far as the "bug" goes, it's been present ever since Quake 2. It can be known to the developers if they just look a little, and yet it's still present in TFC, was present in CS for a long time, and Flayra <b>intentionaly</b> left it in for aliens.

You "believe"? Next version of what? NS? HL? HL2? Please do provide a source for this wonderful information.

It bothers me how every time someone claims to have spotted speed hacking everyone immediately assumes he's some noob that only saw someone bunnyhopping.

Also, Flayra accepted bunnyhopping as a good part of his game. If he wanted he could have easily disabled it. It may be an exploit of the HL engine, but it <i>IS</i> a part of NS.

It's not an unfair advantage because anybody can do it. All it takes is some practice... Or if you're lamer, some practice and some scripts.

    Is leap-biting an unfair advantage?
How bout good aim as a marine?
    Leading your shots with spit?

Now you clearly admit you want to go faster than your opponent. Maybe the opposing team doesn't want to bunnyhop because it's unfair and childish. Have you ever thought about it that way?

What the hell does speedhacking have to do with bunnyhopping(except that you go faster)?

He is talking about biting 6 times a second and you guys start babbling about bunnyhopping?
