You also get points for taking down structures. So, if you are a fade and you have taken down 4 electrified rt's, then you will get 12 points from doing that. Of course, if a fade or onos has lots of extra points from taking down structures, then they are probably doing a good job, and getting a decent amount of support from the rest of the team. I just thought I would point out that those extra points can come from two different places.
Admittedly, I'm new to NS and am by no means an expert. But it seems to me that "res-****" is just a blanket accusation that gets thrown around whenever aliens are losing, whether it's true or not.
When I hit tab and see that half my team is already gorging, I usually decide to save for fade. I don't think that's whoring -- that's playing smart. You can't win with a team of all gorges.. the team *needs* a healthy number of skulks/fades to have any chance.
Just because someone spends their res on lifeforms doesn't mean that they're playing selfishly. Very often, advanced lifeforms are the best use of res (imo) and help the team more than anything else.

If you are a perm gorge and if you are any good, you should never have more than 40 res (to build a hive).

Regarding OC's...
A single OC in the middle of the hallway/corridor etc. etc. is more of a nusiance to the aliens, especially onos. But a few OC's hidden around corners and not in direct sight can cause some disruption for marines. OC is a support mechinism and requires aliens to be active in the defence...then OC's can be very usefull, but not as a solo defense against marine incursion...best the OC's could do is slow the marines down till aliens rally to the defence.
I use OC's in two ways : Either as a intimidation factor (3 OC's in a tight pack) or as a damager - the intimidation comes when a marine runs around a corner and is met by 3 OC's, normally marines are reluctant to acept the damage they will suffer to remove the OC's and try find a alternative longer path (especially if you make sure there is a alternative longer path). The damager OC is hidden around corners and fire when the marine is in the room rather than trying to prevent the marine from entering...these OC's are used in conjunction with gorge support or other aliens attacking, because they are not in direct sight to the marine entering the marine must expose him/herself to the fire to be able to target them.
Regarding res asterix's ...
To me this is defined as a player that refuse to participate in the team - if a skulk rush is called this player will remain at the hive or try pick off lone marines, if every player is required to drop a res before engaging the marines...this player will not use his/her precious res for the team. If a desperate request for anyone to drop DC/MC/SC this player will wait for someone else to comply rather than use his/her own res.
Basically a non team player. A quick fade may be one of these players, or a player that see the tactical need for more offensive power, a gorge is rarely a res asterix because of the cost of 10 res to become a gorge. A single hive onos (esp if there is no DC) is a higly possible res asterix but could also be a player that felt the team could benefit.

I would only call someone a res **** in one of these situations.
1.Someone who stays skulk the entire game untill they get 100 res and still does nothing with it. 2.Someone who goes Gorge and spends their entire time bitching instead of building. Or just never builds and trys to be a battle gorge. 3.A person who goes lerk as soon as they get 30 res and dies a few minutes later. 4.A person who goes fade and dies and then blames the gorges for not getting up more dc's and a second hive. 5.Onosing in the first 5 minutes and dying to a few lmg's soon after.
I only like onoses in the first 5 minutes if they stick by the gorges as an escort. This way they act as more of an escort and will start assaulting as soon as they can get a second hive. Also I like fades who can attack and get lots of kills and not die quickly. A fade that dies after getting 20 or more kills is a Fade that I hope the team won't get mad at because the fade actually tried and did well.

Mayhem is the new guy here, and he seems to understand it better than most ppl. can't be explained any clearer.
the idea with the extra res for killling structures is great ! nearly evertime on the pbublic servers I see ppl in my team ignoring an enemy rt next to them... I can never understand such a thing. Why don't they kill it ? Because its boring ... great. If 2 or more skulks attack the same rt , it will be down in about 10 seconds. but no.. just loose the game before killing any rts.
