    Cool. i had a go, but it got ridculously high poly very quickly. especially on the round handle part.

    V nice concept tho.

    its a older rifle designed to be produced quickly... any rifle that was is plain looking.. look at the Groza

    It's great! Just work on removing some polies, and I bet it would make a great LMG!

    anyways if you really want to kill some polies, then you can remove the stuff that arent really needed (scope, flashlight) that might help since i added iron sights onthe concept as well <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    delete the fancy stock, and get rid of the slits on the front thingy. free up polies because when you look at it from the origin, a lot of detail won't come out.

    you should only remove them if it is a must and they should only be removed after animation then youll be sure which faces arent seen

    well..IMO 3000PC or 4000 is good since i have seen MANY Counter-strike (no i dont play it anymore) replacements that have a MUCH higher PC then that..

    True in the majority of cases, it's the Half-Life engine that doesn't like it.

    hmm, after animation, taking off the side that wont be seen (said by chrono) and removiing the stuff that cant be used (scope) will REALLY lower the PC.

    /edit those holes on the front can be skinned on.

    Things like the grooves at the front can be skinned on aswell. They will be distant in your view in game and therefore it won't really make much differance aesthetically if they are skinned or modelled.

    We know models up to 7,000 polys and beyond can be used; while it's always good to optimize and reduce the polys as much as possible, there is plenty of room.

    I aim for around 2,000 polys, unfortunately they usually go over by 1 or 2 thousand <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    the front handguard is the g36 element, the rear stock is what i started out with on the concept..just made it a little futuristic, so thats not anything i took. then the handle is like the tar-21 and the scope is just some miniaturised scope of the one of the other conceps...cant post link because photobucket has been filtered..
