Here's The Balance Problem.

<div class="IPBDescription">From my own experience...</div> Be WARNED: This is redundant.

Okay, so I'm an alien. I need to get resources to evolve and so my team can get new abilities. But for me to do this I need a resource tower. But for me to build one I need resources. But the default resource rate is slow and I have to evolve in the first place, which is 13 resources right there. So after I wait three minutes to evolve into a Gorg I then have to wait even longer to build a tower. And even then I might get destroyed by some marauding marines, who will then destroy my tower and build a new one. I can't destroy their's because I'm not powerful enough and it would take like three minutes to destroy and ungaurded marine resource tower as it is. But for me to evolve into powerful enough form I need more resources and 2 or more hives (which cost 80 resources each). And I can't get those needed resources because I'm not powerful enough to get them, and the only way for me to become powerful is if I had enough resources in the first place. It seems like the only way for me to get resources is by shear luck; I just hope to God that no overpowered marine walks in and destroys my hard work.

Oh, and the grenades are too powerful. Get rid of 'em or weaken 'em.

    I'm sorry, the topic should be called, "Here's A Balance Problem". <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Three things possible causing that problem.

    1. Admins messing with resources allowing for early marine expansions.

2.Bug that allows marines more resources early on.

    3. Team skulks not harassing marines enough in the first part of the game.

Well you know it doesn't always have to be like this, the aliens also have to do teamwork.
Say, you need to get your resource tower established, right, two people evolves into a gorge, right?
One of them creates a resource tower while the other creates defence, also, most likely you're more then just two on the team, so logicly you could also have a skulk to get you defence, besides, if your team is any good, most of them will stalk the marines from expanding, and if the marines can't expand from start they will neither attack your bases, see?

the logic is that if the aliens do the specific teamwork they can acctually keep the marines down until you get like 2 or maybe even three hives, and when you got three hives, the game is pretty much over, so unless the marines can get out of their puny base to expand, the more easier will it be to keep them there, although if the marines got like 3-4 outposts and your team hasn't even started getting resource towers or any of the like...
well then, I wish you good luck.
    You're going to need it.

Banan some things that you say are true and some are well false...
You see the commander can upgrade just about anything at the begining base. With the resource problem this leads the commander to have about 5-10 turrets covering the base within 2 min or less. Some times if the skulks rush they can pull it off but most of the time they cant because taking down a marine takes skill. All the marine has to do is pull the trigger.
You were talking about trying to stop the marines from expanding well they can only be held off 5min at best if you have 2-3 skulks covering each hall or resource node. Even if the marines dont have much resources they wil still come at you with HMG's very early in the game. And we all know how much HMG's own.

Seriously I singlehandedly stopped a marine base from expanding, I was just hanging in clever spots in the roof and when 2-3 marines acctually deared to cross out I'd jump down and get a couple of bites and go back up, nobody would even have noticed me before I was gone, then you repeat and they're all dead.
Although backup is a good idea.
Anyway after a little while you would have two (or three) hives (which you can get farely fast with 3-4 gorges, just have two of them save enough for hives while the other two get resources and defences)
The rest of the team should in the meanwhile try to keep the marines out, and if you do it properly there will always be ONE skulk there just waiting for the marines to attempt anything before he slaughers them.

And I know you can't keep them off forever but by the time they get to expand they are VERY delayed in the game and most likely those three hives of yours are almost done, and seeing as you haven' used any resources you could get to fade or onos at once.
Now the marines might already have HMG's by then but you with some defence chambers you could just rush in, kill alot of them and then rush out again to heal.

Well this is just my strategy it might not always work but it's the best one i've found so far, if you let the marines get too much technology you're in for it.

The problem is, is any Gorg player actually WILLING to sit around forever just to collect 80 reasources for a hive? Hiding in a corner where no marines can find you... I guess its ok if you just go AFK, watch some TV and hope no marine kills you when you get back

not meant to be a diss so don't take it the wrong way but this is your problem:

"So after I wait three minutes to evolve into a Gorg"

Don't wait...attack first, once you get your 13 rp *then* evolve.

don't wait till you get 13 - wait till you get 33.
Sitting around just makes it easy for the marines.
Get enough to evolve AND build the tower. THEN go for it.
