Not Flaming or anything not trying to get anything started nothing personal but it seems to me that some of the admins are having fun locking/nuking/deleting threads/posts.

Althougth some of the admins are doing their job etc. and probably wish they didn't have to lock certain threads/posts alot I find rather amusing and enjoyable the posts n threads I read I mean,I have noticed some questionable attitudes towards some of the people and new people that come here seems to me.

I think Nemesis Zero is awesome Delarosa's cool, tailsin's cool,Mouse is cool, but it seems Nemesis Zero's been quite busy lately lol.

I just think a nicer but still firm attitudes should be used toward these people.I understand that if the admins explain stuff maybe get just a tad strict or whatnot will keep everyone in line, maybe even send the person a PM instead of letting everyone see how things can get between the admins and us (of course most of us allready know, except for newbies to the forums). Not telling anyone what to do just my opinion on what I think maybe going on.

you're not going to evade ban 6 times and start an NS reform movement are you?

Nah, he's not gonna pull a Scooter_Blue. Look at how he approached the situation. No attempts to lure admins into an arguement. Therefore he isn't doing things scooter blue style.

Seems honest enough, even though the Off Topic forums hardly needs these kinds of threads. (I mean, wouldn't talking to admins be something you would want to PM then? I mean hell, Nem even agreed to go on IRC and talk to scooter, even though he had no obligation to do so, surely he would be glad to disscuss this over PM's, rather than "opening an old and overdisscussed can of worms" in the OT...)

I'm the last one to defend admins and mods ordering me what to do, because I dislike that (which is funny, because I'm an admin myself on two boards). But I think there's nothing wrong with having fun locking/deleting/whatever threads.

Remember, they're entitled to have fun too. Some do it because they crave for power, some do it for fun and some because they think it's a good thing to keep the troops in order. And some do all of the above or in different combinations. Yes, a lot of babble from me...

But all I'm saying is that the NS admins and mods are very strict and also very fair. That's my two cents.

Well, at least it's not like these forums. (if you're too lazy, they are the Diablo II forums.) It can get hellacious in there. The mods NEVER do ANYTHING.

    The mods here are fine.
  • Cold_NiTeCold_NiTe Join Date: 2003-09-15 Member: 20875Members
I don't get why just because the mods here are strict, people always feel abused by them. I mean, I got reprimanded for my sig once, I didn't scream wolf at the top of my lungs though. It was my fault, and no matter how Talesin chose to handle it (though he was pretty nice about it), nothing changes it.

It's not like they are pulling a Voltron and... well if you played that Political Flash game... you get the reference.

I mean, this is why some people get angry at authorities like cops, and I mean like when they get angry at them just because they are cops not because they are abusing power. But usually in those situations, it has to do with that person's insecurity.

what's with all the unrest against the forum admins? they're doing their jobs, and doing it well, i might add.

I personally think the mods here couldn't do a better job. Their strict, but at the same time, their rules are fair. They don't abuse their power, but yes, they DO enjoy locking a stupid thread- why shouldn't they? They realize their squashing a bug that shouldn't have been born. I see nothing wrong with that, and frankly, I applaud them for the downright GODLY job they do with these forums.

Frankly, I just wish they could do more to punish than just banning- like after a while, get Flayra to code something so their steamid makes it so the game crashes whenever they launch. That'd be good

You know what we need on this (and all) forums?

    A "Slap" command.

Basiclly, you are alloted 5 "Slaps" per day, and you can use them however you want. In the area of a post where it give the user's email, ICQ Adress, et cetera, there will be a little icon for "Slap".

When you "Slap" someone, it pops up a window for them, letting them know that they have been slapped by someone, and for which post.

Slappers could also make a comment to go with their slap.

Much like a post-count, you could view how many times a person has been slapped.
  • Cold_NiTeCold_NiTe Join Date: 2003-09-15 Member: 20875Members
But then you would have people like confuzor, who would plot to be slapped as many times as possible, and have the highest slapcount...

I like the job the mods are doing here. No lame spamthreads, or in general, idiotic ones. They're like a giant stupid filter, one of the reasons this is the only forum on the internet I'm still active in.

Three cheers for the moderating team.

that is just a scary thought.

specialy for any one who has been around very late at night (those threads that never exist in the morning, and sudenly another picture host is in the swear filter)

and that would just sorta be the chery on top of the flaming, spaming, and just general stupidity......

    I like it here.
    The mods are cool.
    The rules are good.
The comunity (for the most part) is cool.
These are the best forums I have ever been a part of, nuff said.

    Do we have fun?

    Yep.

Frankly, we wouldn't do this if we didn't enjoy it... it's a pretty thankless job. But I'm not saying we take some sort of vicious pleasure in locking every thread we get our grubbly little mouse-pushing mitts on... we take pleasure in keeping the community orderly.

Frankly, I don't like having to lock posts. But I don't regret it. I don't feel sorry for the person who caused the lock to occur -- I feel sorry for all the rational, rule-abiding voices who were trying to have a discussion before someone came along and ruined it for them.

The slaps are but for the pitiful. The authority has but grown soft in their aging positions.

With the absence of the dominant right wing, one 'MonsieurEvil', the authority has grown lax and tolerated such criticisms such as THESE. History's repetition stirkes us once again, as it would appear that our society has forgotten the horrors of glastnost. Like the deranged masochist that he was, Gorbachev allowed abuse upon abuse to mock the once almighty administration. What remains now is its skeleton, burned to ashes, and scattered to oblivion.

Such are the cracks that begin to plague this forum, and the moderators, without the guide of the Right, fail to take heed of the impending disaster that will befall, inevitably waiting its turn to damn you all.

The recalcitrant that I am, I initially took pleasure in the heapings of liberalism that slowly began its duty in collapsing the foundation of this society, but the spasm of logic made my eyes see the horror that without the administration, I had nothing to be recalcitrant against. I would serve no purpose. The struggle would come to its conclusion, and none would be the better from it. The pang of this horror deassembled my figure, and I lay on the floor, scattered, much like the apocalyptic future of this forum.

Through my power, however, I reformed my body, and come to make my message seen. It is my request, nay, my demand that such leniency to the sinners of this forum be ceased immediately. I am well aquainted with the suffering brought by such leniency, for I reside in the crumbling nation of Canada, where mercy stands at an all time high. The results have been crippiling.

    A slap for a sin?

    Nay.

Cane those who do not adhere to standards set forth, regardless of it being the first warning, or an accidental error.

A gentle scold leaves no impression on the memory.
A caning with the proverbial thorn-studded staff will put the rebellious ones in their place, and make them stay there.

    Except me.
