<div class="IPBDescription">Needs Overhaul.</div> Hi,
Post anything you think should be changed in CO as well, or comment if you like.
imho,
As it says, there are some major inbalance issues with CO. I have played on a 15 minute server last few nights, and are finding more and more people going Fades within 2 minutes.
After this, its Game over.
Onos in 3-4 minutes... this shouldnt happen, most marines are like lvl 2 if that. taking down multiple fades, onos is pretty much an impossible task early in game.
95% of games I have played last few nights have been alien wins, a few weeks ago it was fairly balanced I beleive, but the problem is, many are going Blink Fades, as they own, simple, they are the downside in NS CO at present, way to hard to kill. The word is out, 70% are going Blink Fades now, this is killing CO games. (Unfortunately most people go the powerhouse in the game, fade is it at moment)
There is a posistive, when there is a balance in the Alien side, like fade, onos, lerk, skulks, gorge - I find the game is a way better experience for the whole, gives marines a chance as well.
Maybe cap the limit of certain amount of fades, onos in games? I dont know, just an idea.
Then when they start Blink, attack, Blink out, heal, blink attack, blink out, none of them dieng, even tho theres 200+ bullets being fired at them, the Marines get no xp, so its a win to aliens all the time.
I think some changes need to happen fairly soon to address these problems.
Also, I have noticed, getting a few kills of recent and gettin like 1 of those xp bars only... I mean WTH? sometimes I have got no XP from an alien kill.
My question also as well, is Aliens are meant to be stealth, marines attack yes, then why are fades made so strong? they can take down 3 Marines by themselves easy, I dont see the need for stealth when you go a Fade. defeats purpose of the game.
But like 99% of most mods, balance is allways a problem.
In the end, CO has potential to be a good mod to NS, but at its current state, and the way people abuse Fades, it doesnt meet up to a good well balanced mod as yet.
On another note - Why is a GL useless against an onos as well as a fade? I just dont understand.

A minute has passed? focus is availabe
3 minutes have passed? grenades are available.
4 minutes have passed? fades are availabe
but of course no one important reads these ideas so yeah.
Its about balance, read the post dont spam crap here please about "not playing well".
Generally this allways happens, someone will just spam a reply and say " Dont die then..."
If you read above, you will know what I was talking about, Blink Fades getting 50+ kills and dieng 2-5 times, with a whole group of marines firing constantly at them.
And my bottom posts explains it even better,
Marines are meant to attack, Aliens are meant to be stealth, surprise, ambush. The way fades are, there is no need to do this, as they are tanks, that can blink in, blink out with 3+ hmg's firing at them, and still get away.
This doesnt promote what this game is about, I constantly see people spamming posts saying that Aliens are the ambushers, stealth, surprise, and marines are the attackers, this is not possible with the way fades are made, limit the blink or something, and make them have to work as stealth, and it be back to what ns is meant to be about.
Spawncamping is the problem.
What is a Blink Fade? Someone who uses blink as a fade? I don't get it.. how can you NOT use blink as a fade...?
how is that "crap" - thats a statement of fact - if they are getting up levels that quickly, then it is due to a serious inbalance in the teams, not the game.

I never said any thing about dieing, i just pointed out an inbalance in team skill can't be accomodated in the game.

Have you never seen a good jp/sg with resupply? they are equally as powerful, in most case more so - as 90% of alien attacks are melee, and they have means of avoiding close combat easily, they are by far more dangerous in skilled hands in combat.

XP is shared among all the people around you so if you're in a large group you get next to nothing. And it would seem occassionally just after you level up, you have to get one more kill before your XP can further progress. bug? Feature? who knows, but it does seem to happen now and then

It takes 5 shots with a level 3 shotgun to take out a hive-2 (cara setting for combat i believe) carapace fade (damage calculator from nonoobs.com)... again, however if the marines are in groups (Which is usually the case on co maps due to their smallness) then you getting at least 2/3 marines vs the fade
I agree it doesn't seem to fit the description - but combat is essentially deathmatch - majority of the maps don't allow for much stealth (they bright, simple layouts etc)...
Now, I don't have ANY solution at all to the problem of overpowered fades in combat. If you lower their power, normal NS will suffer. Maybe we should get rid of combat ;-)
no, combat is near perfect balance, leave it the way it is
They're really good meat shields for skulks. While you're trying to kill the fade (he'll only be dead for 15 seconds) skulks are running behind him and ambushing you and the skulkies with focus are what really make you die.
Fades that blink around in a big room are almost impossible to kill. The SG is useless, and the cone of fire on LMG makes it barely scratch. Only HMGs can threaten these fades, and even then a JP is highly advisable. It's not like normal NS where killing a fade means he has to regest back to it, these combat fades come back hella quick, and they're packing silence adren cara regen SoF and focus.
The time limit helps alot because the game ends most of the time BEFORE all aliens are lerks/fades/oni. So we have two possible solutions. Don't play on servers with changed time limit or limit the number of players for each lifeform AND set a time limit that can't be changed anymore to avoid marine domination in long games.
Apart from this the problem is bad players not overpowered lifeforms. Please don't tell me EVERY fade has 50:5 kill:death ratio. This is just not true. Only good players will have such stats. Even with fades like that in equally skilled teams there will be marines who have 40:10 or something like that. A good marine player with HA or JP can kill a fade even in a 1on1 situation!
The problem is bad players that camp instead of rushing the hive and whine about getting killed by a level 10 fade when they are level 3.
A focus/celerity fade is dangerous for sure but by the time that fade appears marines have shotgun, level 2 weapons, level 2 armor and resupply. Two marines with those settings kill a fade before it can kill the first marine.

Its good to see some people know what the game is about. Marines Attackers, Aliens Defenders.
CO is just a giant PG rush, treat it that way, shoot things on the way into the hive and then just shoot the damn hive.
