Soundblaster Live 5.1?
Whee, haven't played NS for quite a while.
Since I got my Soundblaster Live 5.1 NS's sound goes quiet and crackly whenever a lot of sound plays at once, i.e. when you fire your gun. This was happening when I played NS quite a while back too. I was wondering if there's been any fixes since I've been gone, it really makes the game hard to play.
I have a feeling it's the soundcard, any solutions will be great.
Thanks a lot.

Maybe you can try a driver update?
I've had this annoying (along with many other ones) with SB products (mine being Audigy). I found that it is most prone to happen on maps with a lot of hive/bacterial sounds (you know like via or powersilo in ns_nothing). Unfortunately not even quitting steam resolves this for me. I find I have to restart my comp to restore the crackling (sounds like a record player). Also my computer comes with two Audio Card ports, one being the main rear port (having all 5 jacks) the other being a front port having only headphone/mic for convenience. I believe the frontal port is an onboard sound card and not you SB one, so also make sure you are using your rear SB jacks for all audio hook ups. I also have to check my latest theory that it may just be interference (like when you hear sounds everytime you scroll your mwheel). I bet you also have the same problem where you can't talk in Steam and Ventrillo (or any other 3rd party chat utility) at the same time right? gg SB Audigy. Anyways try what I've said and know that you're not alone!
