<div class="IPBDescription">How Do They Do It?</div> <a href='http://us.mms.com/us/news/promotions/bic/tvads/play_mpg.jsp?movieid=River_of_Chocolate_low' target='_blank'>Check this out.</a> It's an M&M's commercial I've seen in movie theaters. I have no idea how they did it though; does anyone have any idea? This is the best way to find out, I figured, because Google couldn't help much.

had to say it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
yah, its CG
one way to do something like that (using my vast lack of knowledge of CG animations <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) would be to have a water effect, and then create the water out of m&ms
(absolutely no knowledge of CG)
*slinks away quietly
I was just wondering <i>how</i> they did the CG effects. I guess if I posted on a few CG forums, I'd have a better response or something, instead of asking whoever wanders into Off-Topic <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Edit: By hand.
the colorchanging can be done with shaders. it works like a heightmap everything that is out of a given "zero height" will change the color to the one initialized by the shader on the wavecenter ... size and strenght of the wave is given to the size/count of the centerpoints of a wave initialisation.
can be done differently too.. but im almost sure they used a particle system on a deformer
Call me a wuss, but I'm determined to find the song used for the soundtrack. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

And i know Liku couldn't have said better himself, he probably couldnt have said that.

I think thats basicaly what I said....
though I have no idea what you said <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I guess i am not the only one who doesnt understand what he just said.
you seem to know quite a bit though. how do you know what you know? i am interesting in these type of things
the next step to do is to spawn random ringgizmos,getting bigger. all that is enclosed into "matter" this ring will change his color to the ring color. but this would not spawn a wave, it just changes the m&m color temporary.. when the m&m leaves the ring it goes back to old color, or to the one emited by a wave
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->will change the color to the one initialized by the shader on the wavecenter<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> so the color IS bound to a specific area, but is also changeable
thats m&m magic
knivez, I figured out what I did by talking to people like sheena, hehe.
Come on, you figured out how to post on a website but can't figure out the acronym for Computer Generated?
And thanks sheena. There goes one of life's little mysteries. I can die now! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
