    Uhm...if it was out, you STILL wouldn't need it. It changes things server side. So you'll not have to change a thing until you decide to host yourself, or theres a patch that client and server need.

    yeah, and if it says you need an upgrade its backwards, the server probably doesnt have the highest version of HL, and if that is the case it gives you the 'upgrade' error, when if you REALY wanted to play on it you would have to downgrade(note some mods allow you to join servers with older versions.)
