What you all need to do is realise that NS is game.. thats right, a game.

QUOTE (Dictionary.com @ Today,)

Game:
An activity providing entertainment or amusement; a pastime

Everyone needs to start getting back to enjoying the game, sure losing sucks but its not the be-all-end-all, there is no war.. just battles that you can learn from.

Try to enjoy the game more, have fun.. after all isn't that why you're playing the game?

I used play on my 56k.. sure flush packets and dc'ing isnt fun at all, and after a **** day at school and coming home to a faulty connection didn't exactly put me in the mindframe for enjoying anything.. so, what I did was: Chillax a bit. Grab something to eat before playing, read a book, watch some telly, have a swim.. whatever, just do something other than using the computer so that when you go for a war or a pub or pug or bloody anything, you do it with a clear head.

Trust me, you feel better, you play better, you frag better, you win... even if you lose because you had phun.

I agree with you, people need to realize it's a game, and they shouldnt start fighting over the internet to show how big and bad they are. Except, I'm the kind of gamer who checks his score ever 10 seconds by pressing Tab. Games relax me, if I win

nice talking. I hope much mmore people started thinking like you do. Specially when they start shouting and screaming during a game just because a poor marine was not able to build a "$%!"!& resource tower. Chill out, it just a GAME!

This is especially apparent in pubs. Clan commanders should never command pub games. It's too stressful. You become used to people obeying orders and covering each other's backs. You expect a shottie person to take out 3 skulks without dying; not die by 1 lone one, or worse, a gorge.

I think commanders should have some sort of PayPal salary. If only to pay for counciling. (sp?)

I went to play NS just to have fun. I was on the Alien team and this 'hole who was apparently an admin started to complain that I wasn't skilled enough. He would ask me to go somewhere in the opposite corner of the map, and then he'd blow up at me when I wouldn't appear there in 5 seconds.

As the game went on, our team fell farther and farther into the gutter, We lost over and over, game after game, and it soon occured to me why. This guy was so picky about every little mistake that people made that he was hurting their confidence, demoralizing them.

Finally I couldn't stand it anymore and told him to shut up. He wouldn't, so I left the server for good.

People take this game wayyy too seriously.

I'm a commander of my clan and I can tell that Its very stressful sometimes when I'm playing in public servers. But Before I was in a clan I used to play on pubs very much so people started to know me. Now almost all people from my country knows what kinda a comm I am. People trusts me and most of them do follow my commands very nicely.

Its very nice to comm in publics because I wont know what the alien team will do and sometimes I dont know what the heck my team is doing but I have used to it, these things makes many other commanders angy but I take this as a challenge. Still Usually my team wins and when we win I'm quite a happy not because we won, its because I made my team to do its job and working as a team. Thats the best lesson from publics. I need to think about many different tactics when playing in pubs because I cant know what will happen next. There has to be always plan B.
I'm not the best and I think its very hard to get even close to best but I still try and publics are great practise if u want to advantage yourself to next level (better than clan matches).

But I have to say that when playing in foreign servers, people dont know me at all. I have been ejected few times in foreign servers which make me feel angry. But insted of barking to all of the players I just leave the server. And I leave because I'm very whiny person and usually my selfconfidence has gone after this. Usually the main reasons why I get ejected is that I dont build turret farm in base and I dont elec RT:s. That makes people whining at me. Its very stressful indeed that they are complaining about that all the time and all things they do is just typing whine text ( All the game time just whining, they dont have even time to move when they are so busy whining ) and sometimes they even say: " I wont move until u do as I say ". Not good teamwork ehh... This is the main reason why I'm not so well known, I dont wanna play in foreing servers. ( Hehe, I have ever even heard of those best comms that u guys mentioned )

And I partly agree with u, This is only a game. But I dont want to play this game if there's some persons who takes this too seriously. They usually use that sentence when they are only soloing all over the map and I try to make them to build RT:s. They just say, Relax this is just a game. Its not very nice. If my team do all that it can do then I dont complain, then I think: This is just a game. Every day I lose some games and I just have to accept that. And I do accept that if my team had followed my orders and try to do its best. But if there are any players who just do whatever they want, eg. If someone of these solo guys gets himself to hive and theres no aliens, I place PG there but then this solo guy just say I dont wanna build it, and then he starts to knife the hive ... I cant stand these guys :/ .
Its good not to take this game too serious but there are players who really want to play as well as they can and then only 1 guy can ruin this.

(And if someone wonders who the heck is this guy (me), where he comes from? My answer is: Im proud member of uRd and I come from Finland! ( Suomi Finland Perkele !)

PS: I'm not so good in English so forgive me if I made some mistypes or grammar mistakes

Good post Pehmolelu, but I disagree with you on some points. There's no real reason to leave the server if you get ejected, nor to feel angry. Most likely no one will replace you, (always funny, "EJECT EJECT!, Commander ejected... No commander...) and they will beg you to get back in, or be stubborn and die horribly.

If you are not well known on a server, it's ok to command, just ask first. Most of the clientle on any decent server will not mind you trying; there is a great shortage of good commanders in the pub world.

As for getting pubbers to do as you say, I hate you. I want some sort of holographic shotgun I can wave in front of them...
