<div class="IPBDescription">Getting the trash talking started...</div> Ive just bought a microphone headset to play NS with, yet no one hears me while in the game. The microphone works, as I can hear myself in it, yet it does not register in the game. I've set all the options involving voice controll to max, yet it doesn't work. Help! <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Problem Update:
    The voice works, BUT only when i assign and hold down a key. How can I make it so that its always on? <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

    You don't.
That would be very very annoying, as it would pick up any and all backround noise
I would mute/ kick you for that.
Thats how HL was made, so you hold down a key

    welllllllll

technicaly you could do it ;P

and infact I think it is possible to do it with out ticking every one else off.

Ok, first up all you gotta do it type "+voicerecord" (no quotes duh) in your console

that will be as if your holding down the key at all times (same as if +attack, +foward etc)
now, find a voice tweak guid (I don't know any). I believe there is (or there SHOULD be) a cvar that actualy keeps the mic turned off untill a certain decible level (loudness ratting) is reached. This way you tweak it till the point where only your voice (whilst speaking loudly) or something louder trigger it.

That would work, but for some people, it would suck RAM and CPU cycles.

    Not me ofc.

It would also cause you to be kicked and/or banned from many servers.

    make a script

    bind "o" "VoiceON"

alias "VoiceON" "+voicerecord; bind o VoiceOFF"
alias "VoiceOFF" "-voicerecord; bind o VoiceON"

You may need to add a few more quotes, but I think you should be alirght. This script has you press the key once to talk, then press it again to turn it off...
