Consol Crash

<div class="IPBDescription">opening consof freezes comp</div> everytime i open my consol in ns i have a 60% chance of it happening
my comp freezes and i gt about 1/2 a second of the most recent sound looping and i have to reboot using the power switch on my pc as my comp wont respond to anything
my specs
sapphire 9600xt 128mb (cats 4.6 (tried 4.4 , 4.5)
512mb pc 2100 ram
2.5 ghz P4
phillips sonic edge 5.1 soundcard
i dunno wot my mobo is as my comps a shop build that i updated gfx adn sound in a while back
Ive attached a direct X dxdaig save too
has anyone else had this problem?
any help with this would be most appreciated as it really annoying to have to avoid using the consol (when i test my maps i like to toggle r_speeds, restart teh map etc)

I have tried running ns in direct3d rather than open gl and its either fixed the problem or made it much less frequent BUT my fps is <1/2 wot ti is in open gl at times in places i had 30fps in d3d where i had 60 in open gl (and that was limited by v-sync orwateva)
so im pretty certain the prob is gfx and it must be sumat to do with openGL/Drivers/gfxsettings
Does anyone know how i could stop this happening in opengl OR how i can gt 70+ fps in d3d as i should be able to when i had a raion 7500le i could gt 95fps !!!
i'm now running d3d and using refreshlock and have v-sync permanantly off in my gfx card properties, i gt playable fps 70-100 in quiet less detailed places 40-50 avg in normal combat 30 when theres alot going on
which is much better than when i first changed to d3d bt open gl still performs much better so i would be very gratefull if sum1 could help meh if anyone needs any more info about my comp then jus ask me and i'll do my best to provide woteva details i can
running round co_core on my own
opengl -80to99 fps almost constant 60+ minimum
d3d 50-65 average fps 40 minimum
sum other maps are worse i was playing woth 30 fps earlier yet with opengl i get 99 in most places bt it crashes when i open the consol 60% of teh time which is really irritating <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Updating sound,MB,GFX drivers.
Reinstalling Steam/HL/Mods.
You could also try turning your GFX cards hardware accelration down aswell as the sound cards accelration to see if either helps.
