leaderzorz, i think we misunderstand each other.

by "fight" i mean.. do everything a soldier does. included but not limited to things other than combat.

for instance, if you're in a marathon, you can call that a 'fight' too. fighting for the finish line. etc.

by fight i mean serve and contribute all the effort i can to the MC.

people of WW2 didn't join the army to kill people, they joined to protect their country and everyone else, or they joined becuase of the draft. I don't think he meant to insult the current or past armed forces.

Yes, more power to zig and his marine friends/co-ops. The US military since it is voluntary, I look up to those men/women. If I had not been able to afford college I would have looked into it further myself. It is nice that when you serve the country it serves you back and you can complete school, or finish it because many of the armed forces already have college courses while you serve.

Actually, anyone who fights for a just cause - even if they take lives in the process - is virtually guarenteed passage into heaven in the Christian mythos. I think (although I will say I am biased on the matter) that the Marine's cause is completely honorable.

It was an abstract meaning, perhaps I can see the adventoures (sp?) part of it but it's gonna be hell, perhaps you wont be hit, but maybe a comrade will, perhaps he will die. You said you are 17 year, a wee bit young to exposed to such things. You are like "omg omg, good speed" and encourage him to do a wrong action, like John said, it aint worth it...

Careful Mech.. a lot of that has to do with point of views.. and I don't think everyones is the same on whether or not the war is "justified" to some it is, to others it is not. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /> Silly opinions. :-)

I have respect for those in the Marine Corps.

I do not have respect for its higher up commanders.

Many a time they have been found to refer to MC as "Cannon Fodder", "Something to hold them off with", and the "Liable Party"- aka, you die fast, your there so someone else can do their job once you die.

Once in a while this doesn't hold true, but its rare. Usually the USMC is just holding off for the Army to come in and clean house. I don't know why they aren't used better- they are some of the best America has.

Though I myself would rather go into the army(I'm deciding if I want to be a Airborne Troop), USMC has the same honor to uphold.

i'm grateful for your concern. the marine corps apparently does pride itself in being "the first in", storming the beaches and such.

but in this day and age, while the USMC is utilized in many offensive actions, we no longer face such dangers as untouchable sea walls lined with artillery and machineguns.

the USMC is no different from the other branches of the military in that it controls every field of battle: land, air, sea, what have you. they've got every advantage a fighting force could possibly have, and i trust that it'll serve to keep me on my feet for a good while.

if not, well.. that's how it goes, is it not?

Zigg these are the reasons why you should be in the USMC.

79) Fighting style III. Marines know how to use their bayonets. Army bayonets may as well be paper weights.
