How many of you are knowledgeable on the dynamics of evolution and natural selection?

Is anyone here religious? If so, what religion do you affiliate your self with, and why?

Who here believes there is a deity?

Who here believes in aliens?

    The drake equation was made for the purpose of wondering weather or not there are aliens.

    Basically, you take the number of stars in the universe. Then multiply by the percentage of those stars that have planets orbiting them. Then multiply by the percentage of planets that are earth-like.. then those that have water.. then the chance of life developing.. then the chance of that life being intelligent (Or developing intelligence), then the chance of that life discovering the electromagnetic spectrum (Specifically, radio waves and the like), then the chance of that life broadly transmitting signals.. and the chance that that intelligent life hasn't nuked itself into oblivion yet. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The equation can have vastly different results, depending on what numbers you wanna plug in, but most scientists agree that there has got to be life out there somewhere.. and probably closer then we think (Like, Io, orbiting Jupiter has a water sea underneath a thin ice crust, heated by geothermic activity, ironically powered by the massive gravitational forces of jupiter itself).

    I wouldn't see why not. Out of the millions of systems out there, why would there only be ONE with life? Sure we might be rare, but Earth proves these life-friendly planet exist, and Mars might have had some sort of forms of life.

    I'd think SOMEWHERE there has to be Aliens. It might be some primitive form like bacteria or other mono-cellular species, not necessarily hyperspace-faring guys with 3 fingers and hovercraft. I just hope that in the whole universe there might be some other species at least nearly as advanced technologically as we have been in the last thousands of years (though more advanced would be cool as well)

    You dont really need an enviorment like earth to have life. I'm sure life can take place on almost any type of planet as long as it stays relativly constant in whatever state it started in.
