concerning AvP2 and updates for NS
......maybe this is a stupid question but will natural selection ever have another update?
if no then are you being taken over by valve like desert combat for bf42

and wouldnt it have been allot easier to make this mod for alien vs predator 2
iam not sure if AvP2 engine supports virtual structures that can be built by the player or commander view point
but allot of the work done on aliens in NS has already been done like climbing on walls ect...and it wouldnt be any copyright infrigement or even suspicion of it since ur making a mod for the game....

Its been only like 2 months, beta 4 was released on the first of may. Granted its not the shortest patch times for a mod, but it certainly isn't horrible.

Posts like this make me giggle like a schoolgirl. *teehee*

FYI: Flayra had to move. His new house currently lacks the internet. Because of this, Flayra's minions can not access the scource for NS which is securly locked away on Flayra's Hard drive. Thusly, no programming can be made until Flayra is settled in. Next time you make wide sweeping statements of "thier worken for valve now" please gain FACT first. I am fully prepared for nem to nuke this if it's too much of a flame, BTW.

avp2 does not contain teamwork at the very least in most cases, and it simply would not work.

why oh why would they scrap all the codework they've done and start with a new engine?
  • VampMasterVampMaster Join Date: 2003-03-16 Member: 14585Members
Main reason, a lot more peoples have HL than AvP2

    and Half-Life does?

teamwork is based on the game/mod... not the engine it's built on

sure it's easy for you to say "i think this game would've been better on that and that engine..." but the truth is, it's a little bit too late to start asking that now. sure, you can ASK, but don't expect that anyone's gonna do anything other than start flaming you, because you ARE two years, maybe perhaps four years, late. maybe it would be cooler for you that NS was built on AvP2, but you must realise that there are REASONS why it is a Half-life mod, not anything else. half-life, mods included, has propably the biggest fan/player base any fps has. because of this it is easy for them to just download another mod, instead of buying a whole new game just to play one mod.

There's been a lot of 'alternative engine' discussions in the past, among them also talk about porting NS to a Lithtek-based engine, so allow me to sum the reasons against such a move up and then ***lock*** this to halt the already mounting heating process:

Too much time and work has been put in the current mod to scrap it all in favor of all but an engine that's got the potential to significantly improve the gameplay.

Porting a mod takes almost as much development time as creating it in the first place. Further incentive to follow the deductions from point a).

No other game has as big a potential audience as Half - Life.

Valves support of the modding community is - all 'the man' rethoric that became so hip in the last few months aside - better than almost anything another developer ever had to offer.
