Flyer + turret = no turret

I have a question to anyone lucky enough to have played the game, I have heard the flyer will have a sniper like weapon so does this mean that they will peak around corners and take out turrets like medics, scouts, spies, with there nail guns? or are you going to make the model and hitbox extreamly thing so you cant "out peek" the turret.

I don't think aliens should be given the ability to peek. They're primal, they share vision. So what do they need to peek for? A flyer would just probably wait up high perched and wait for a group of marines to walk past then snipe them from behind. Marines should be given the ability to peek though. Their moderately large targets and it is necessary to check out corners quickly without endangering their lives.

I would love to see a feature like this in NS. Something not all that unlike the peeking around corners move in Thief. I can only imagine it increasing the "tense" feeling of the game if people actually used it, and it could also lead to some pretty dramatic shared experiences. Imagine a scene where a squad of marines is nervously waiting along a wall for the point to check around the corner (using the peek, of course), just as a level 5 comes charging out. Just having to stand there and watch the man in front peek around the corner would be an awesome shared experience on it's own. I can also see it binding the team closer together, and encouraging them to stick together more.

Though if such a feature was ever built into the game, I'm not sure where I would stand on allowing the aliens to use it. I like your reasoning, Psymasta.

you know, those SWAT guys have a mirror which they place around the corner to check it. Wouldnt this be cool for them marines too?

Well, yes, a mirror would be cool, but it's just not possible given HL engine capabilities, I think.

As for the "peek" move, it would certainly be really cool to add in, but it would probably be a bit of work, and may not even be possible.  It might require another hullsize (we can't have marines peeking their heads into a wall, now can we?), and NS is already maxed out on hull sizes.

As for the flyer have a sniper type weapon, this is true.  Or at least it was something mentioned as a part of the level 3's features.  How it works I couldn't tell you.  It might have a zoom, or it might not.  But it will be cool.

wow i must suck at getting my point across, when i mean peak i dont imply an added feature, I am referring to the fact that sg's (in tfc) need to see a certain amount of you before they lock on, so you can "peek" out a little and destroy the sg. I was wondering if you could do the same on NS :/

Well you can out shoot it from a distance from memory with out it firing back
Well you got to consider the turning time to aim at ya  =  window opportunity until sitting focused at you wait to turn the corner (unless it sits their spinning)

yup, I believe someone said that if that big boy tracked an alien, all but the level 5 would be dead carapice.

Don't quote me on this, but I think the level 3 alien snipes thusly:

Flies up to ceiling, goes into snipe mode. This involves the view rotating 180 degrees so your view is upside down. You now snipe people.

This is VERY old information, so it could be invalid now. Still, I think that'd be sweet!

I get what you mean with "peak", it would be usefull, I mean if the SG,s on tfc just locked on the target starting to shoot at once they would be so good it's inhuman, so I'd say that they should need a little "peak time" or whatever you can call it, lol

Bah, the SG's in TFC were fun to kill as a Medic!
If you can actually manage to avoid their fire and jump on top of them, they're a crowbar target <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
