    Or we could just use a particle system.

    Check out <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73493&hl=co_niveus' target='_blank'>this map</a> if you want to see a working snow particle system.

    yeh, good idea but wrong mod. and the way you described making the rain it would be very difficult to make it an official map because there is a limit of the number of ents that you can use.

    the particle system is a better way to make rain, but i always find it difficult to use lol.

    Using the particle system would be a way better way to create rain (see daimos secret room for example) or snow (outdoor areas on ns_ayumi). You can create a rain/snow system covering a huge area with a minimum of entities (instead of 125125 env_beams and stuff) and because the origin on the raindrops is chosen by random it doesn't look repetative.

    I looked at it earlier, it used 2 or 3 entities per <b>drop</b> of rain, which is way too much in anything except an extremely small area.

    Everyone always forgets hydrosity. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Particle system driven rain with splash effects, using only 3 entities for one rainy area. An additional 2 entities are required for each rainy area that you make beyod the first one.

    Shall I do a tutorial?

    particle system is good for outdoors because it can do rain (and other weather) and grass and stuff.

    Anyone who wants to make the grass, can just get a particle system spawn it in a box just obove the area you want it, have particle lifetime to -0 (infinte) give it a small grass like sprite, then set constrain pitch and gravity. Just need to work out a way of stopping them from going though the floor.

    Mmmk, I'll get started on one soonish.

    tutorial.. that'd be great im working on an outdoor map right now <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=73879&st=0' target='_blank'>co_cityassault</a> .

    Im about 1/4 the way through and rain would be just perfect for it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->.
    Not that good right now, so im not sure if i would be able to do anything complex like that...
    so ill either have a try and fail or ask som1 else to set one up and send it me.

    Really not that hard to do... I made ayumi-esque snow in just a few minutes with Ripent (to see what some of the velocities were like since mine wasn't working properly at first) and NSPSEdit (thread is <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=69209' target='_blank'>here</a>)

    As for this method of making rain.... why use 3 entities per drop when you can use 3 for the whole thing?
